LOL: I was just wondering the same thing.

I remember a thread about a wife that finds evidence in their garage that her husband may be a serial killer. I just found a book that fits the description, but now I can't find the thread to see whether it's been solved yet or not!

That sounds really familiar (either the book or the thread!)

C, this thread is a good idea.

message 6: by MJ (new)

MJ | 1613 comments This is a brilliant idea. So many times I’ve got a basic memory of the book someone was looking for and am sure I’ve read it. When I finally stumble across a possible book... I can’t find the thread.

I’ve now got a list (somewhere) of possible books in case the thread pops up again.

message 7: by MJ (new)

MJ | 1613 comments Mods, if this is something you don’t mind keeping an eye on, any chance you could add in the link to this thread?

If so, I’ll copy that link to my goodreads note on my phone, along side the links to ‘my comments’ and ‘my threads’ that you so kindly supplied for me. So much easier to find everything now.

Let's try marking this thread as important so it will always be visible at the topic of the "Just to Chat" folder.

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments I could have sworn there was a recent thread about a Jewish boy time traveling to the past (I thought WWII but not sure). I can't seem to find it.

YA, posted this year I think.

Crap, bow I can’t remember more about the thread I’ve finally found one of the books
It made me thing of! Lol

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments Search engine is still broken. :(

I know we had a thread about a teenage girl in England who moved to a new house in the countryside with glass walls. Her single mother was the victim of an attack (I think stalking and rape) because of the glass walls. Anyone know what thread I'm talking about?

Here's a workaround solution:

Google Search of our Group:
site:goodreads.com "What's the Name of That Book???" [type your keywords...]

message 16: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments Alas, I tried! That is definitely a good workaround and I've located other threads that way, but I still can't find this one.

It was either YA or adult fiction. The girl moved with her single mom to an isolated house in the English countryside. The house had glass walls. Or maybe floor to ceiling glass windows. There was something about them moving there to feel safe, and then the mother ended up being stalked or raped.

I remember it vaguely, now that you describe it, but not well enough to point you to it without the search working. I'm sure I didn't comment on it so we can't find it that way. Sorry!

message 18: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments I'm pretty sure I commented on it, but my search history is too huge to go through. :(

I did notice Google hasn't indexed all of our threads. I spent a while trying to find the one about nomadic people in camper vans in Canada post-apocalypse, and I finally found it by looking up a book I remembered I had mentioned. Google search was no help bringing it up.

I managed to find it (through Google books search 😓) -
The Domino Effect

Yes. However, the fastest way to find threads you created is to go the group's homepage. (You need to use the full Desktop or Mobile Website - not the App.) Then click "My Group Topics" above the group Search box (on the right side of the page).

Freya, here's a thread you created in February: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 25: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments This is driving me nuts! I'm trying to find a thread about a book with a particular cover. Two teenage boys lying down on top of a road, with a road sign above their heads. Or the word "up" painted on the pavement above their heads. I can't remember if it was solved or not. I think it was a YA book, but all my searches are coming up empty.

message 26: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments Trying to locate a thread that I'm sure was posted within the last 6 months. I believe it was solved, but I can't seem to find it doing searches. The book was about a teenage boy who lived in a tall apartment building with a little sister he was taking care of. Someone in the story (I think the boy) was a sociopath. There was also a teenage girl who was in love with him and wanted to stay with him. Very vague memories here. It may have involved dreams, and the sociopath may have been responsible for throwing someone off the roof of the apartment building? It was a YA book set in modern times, but for some reason I keep thinking there's some WWII connection.

Bargle | 1751 comments This thread is from the last few years. Takes place in Europe. Young inventor builds mechanical rabbits, gets treated badly by locals. Keeps making rabbits. It was a short story. The query was solved and I read the story, but I can't remember the title or author.

Found it! The thread is here, and it turns out I was the one who solved it, lol. The book in question was The Storyteller.

The Blue Lawn by William Taylor

I have the cover, now I just need to find the thread!

message 30: by Rosa (new)

Rosa (rosaiglarsh) | 5379 comments Was it this thread, R? I'm confused, though: you posted on it three minutes before you posted here. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 31: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments I'm positive there was another one! The thread I'm thinking of specifically mentioned two teenage boys lying down in the road. I found the above thread when I was searching for the other one.

It seems like we had several posters searching for a thriller about a corporate retreat where the men and women go off into a wilderness or jungle separately, and all the men come back but not all the women? (or something very similar).

I just heard about this book Force of Nature by Jane Harper which has that plot.

I found Laurenpie's thread, her book was "Savages" so it's not that thread.

message 33: by SamSpayedPI (last edited Nov 28, 2021 05:48AM) (new)

SamSpayedPI | 2300 comments This was just posted a few days ago, but I'm sure there was a very similar thread that was posted, or perhaps solved, fairly recently: a girl begins to have psychic visions while visiting England for first time. Does that seem familiar to anyone else?

message 34: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments I thought it sounded familiar, too, Sam. But I couldn't find a specific thread when searching.

message 35: by M.C. (new)

M.C. Harrison I think this is a good thread for considering why we need to recall the title of a book read long ago. Often when I write a review for a current book, it reminds me of a novel that I've read in the past but cannot recall its name. I also think that recalling the title of a book from childhood gives off 'good vibes' of happy times. What do you think?

message 36: by SamSpayedPI (new)

SamSpayedPI | 2300 comments M.C. wrote: "I think this is a good thread for considering why we need to recall the title of a book read long ago. "

Wouldn't it be better just to start a new thread for that under "Just to Chat"?

This thread is for when we need help finding a particular thread or comment. Why clutter it up with a completely irrelevant topic?

message 37: by M.C. (new)

M.C. Harrison It seems that this thread is called What's the Name of That Thread? However, according to others' posts this once had another name. I would agree with you that "Just to Chat" thread might be fine. The other threads are very specific.

Kaitlynn, it seems like you're looking for a specific book. If so, you should create a new thread under UNSOLVED: One specific book.

Rainbowheart | 28541 comments Trying to locate a thread that I'm pretty sure was posted within the last year. The searcher was looking for a novel about an Afro-British man or teenage boy who committed suicide by jumping off a building in London. Possibly an immigrant, possibly not. I've tried all the keywords I can think of, and nothing is coming up. Help!

Think I found the thread, but it looks like I conflated the OP's request with the book I suggested.

message 43: by MJ (new)

MJ | 1613 comments I thought there was thread that was looking for:

Teen girl forced out of town away from her boyfriend and adopted family by someone black mailing her with bogus info. She has to stay away or it will ‘ruin everyone’ trope. Return at death if Adpt-mum and decides to stand her ground.

Well, IF the thread exists, it’s The Misfit Inn series. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Thanks

Simi | 147 comments Looking for another thread I forgot to subscribe to. It was a book that had multiple maps from different fantasy books. Targeted to children I think but could be wrong since I'm usually looking at this genre anyway. I can't remember which maps but at a guess maybe middle earth and never neverland.
There's a similar thread that contains "Portal Potion" in the title, its not that one.

Can we eliminate - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... ?

Did the thread contains worlds like: atlas, encyclopedia, dictionary, reference, imaginary places, etc.?

message 46: by Simi (new)

Simi | 147 comments I don't think it was that thread. But the book that you suggested was actually the reason I remembered the thread I didn't bookmark. I can't remember the wording of the thread but it wasnt encyclopedias, reference or dictionaries. It might have had imaginary places

The searcher was looking for a book about a young black girl who was sent to stay with another family for the summer. She was on her own, I believe, no siblings, sent to visit with an unrelated family. Possibly she wasn't specified as being black, but I'm pretty sure she was.
