I remember a vivid description of when the main character first discovers that her brother is being kept in a cage: His hair has grown out, he looks dishevelled, I think he's walking around on all fours? I don't think he acknowledges the main character when she sees him.
There is possibly a maze outside of the main character’s house on her planet. Frank may have been walking through this maze when he got kidnapped.
(Spoiler) The main character uses lighting or electricity of some kind to get back to her planet. I think she uses the help of a scientist.
