Helen | 2 comments • Multiple books in the series with multiple character POV in each book
• Key themes were betrayal and the cost of sacrifice
• here was a prophecy element to the story and a number of civilizations on the brink of war. The novel spread over a number of years
• One character was named Duncan (possibly) who was part of a race of human like creatures that had wings < spoiler> was promised to his allies daughter but fell in love with another and war ensued. The woman he didn’t marry had a his child and in doing so created the child of the prophecy that everyone thought he had with the other woman < /spoiler>
• I read it around 15 years ago… and I think it had been around a while then.
• I think the author was female

Morwenna Morasch | 7 comments It sounds like the Cheysuli Chronicles by Jennifer Roberson.

Duncan is a character from the first book in the series, a shapeshifter.

Thanks, Morwenna - I read the synopsis for that book and it isn't the one I am looking for. The one I am looking for the race arent shapeshifters but have wings. And the key aspect of the story was that shape shifters betrayal of the women he was promised to. Oh, this is so frustrating. Thanks again!

Are there dragons? (e.g., a long shot - The Raven and the Dove by Kaitlyn Davis - one reviewer says: "Raven and Dove is about star-crossed lovers, trials, courtship, brotherhood, fate, betrayal and A PROPHECY.")
