Read-A-Thon #1: Team Cocoa Pebbles
Hello Team Cocoa Pebbles!
The book I'm currently reading works for every level, so I'm fine with whatever seems easiest or the best to start with. I've also input all of your names on the spreadsheet, so feel free to add your books and your pages read each day.

I'm currently reading Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon. I will have to add the page counts once I finish since my kindle edition does not have pages numbers just location but looking on amazon. I have around 490 pages left. Though I plan on reading it today so I guess I will have to recalculate the number.
I add my book to the spreadsheet just where the author's name works. If we need to I can run a word search through the book but I'll wait to see if that is necessary. I'm not sure I understand the title prompt and I don't think my cover works anywhere.

You are not misreading, Jillian. I forgot we made a last minute change to the rules before posting, so the example doesn't match perfectly. I'm going to go edit the spreadsheet now!

Looking forward to this. Emily would you please freeze the list of words on the spreadsheet so that they show when you move to the right. I wasn't able to see them when I added some of my books... and anyone adding books after me won't see them as well. I did shrink some columns to help me which hopefully won't cause a problem.

Why don't we just decide to start with the dinosaur level? That seems to be where we have the most options for this first round of books.

Loved this book. It is one of the few books I might reread sometime. .. and I almost never reread books.

On to dinosaur level.

Thanks Edie! I have heard so many good things about it, I'm really excited to finally read it!
I'm so excited to go to sleep (because this was the longest week ever and I'm exhausted but also) because I'm ready to get up and start reading!

I went through the categories that we don't have any choices for yet and could possibly meet:
Insects: Springtime
Puppy: Sit and Stay
Puppy: Snoopy
Big Cat: The Lion King
If its not narrowed down by tomorrow night/Sunday morning I will pick one of them.
We are starting with Dinosaur, and it looks like the only one we are missing an option for is t-rex, but we should meet our page count Wild Card and can use it for that word (I figured it would be the most difficult on Dinosaur).
After that, I guess we can see what books we still have in progress and move them over to whatever level has the most options in progress after that? Unless y'all would rather us pick the order right now so that you can plan ahead?

I am about a third of the way through A Game of Thrones, hopefully I can finish this week, but for sure will count for pages. I just started an audio book last night. And I have several easy books penciled in, so I should be able to get a few done this week.
Now, off to check the spread sheet!

Good morning, Cocoa Pebbles!
I'm just waking up with what I hope is a sinus infection but may possibly be strep throat (the joys of working with snotty teenagers...) so I'll be heading to the doctor this morning. The good news is that I have nothing else on the agenda for the day, and I fully plan on being completely lazy and reading until my eyes close tonight.
I'm (slowly) reading Homegoing, and supplementing with All the Ways We Said Goodbye, and I just picked up The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery on audio, so I have some good options!

I’m off to run a 5k real quick (who even am I??), then hopefully spend a large portion of the rest of the day just reading. I’ve got Interior Chinatown (Charles Yu), Penny For Your Secrets (Anna Lee Huber), Red White and Royal Blue (Casey McQuiston), and an audio of TS Eliot poetry that’s quite short and should cover the t-rex prompt with author initials, lol. And I’m also finishing up a Witch-themed readathon that’s lasted all of February, so I may pop a couple of witchy kids books in there too. Who knows.

Right now I have a little over 100 pages left in both of the books I'm reading, The Other People and Here Comes the Sun. I added them to the spreadsheet and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to finish one if not both of them today.
I hope you feel better soon Emily!

I have to work today so won't be able to get any good reading done until this evening. I'm starting Where the Crawdads Sing and really hyped for this one. Likely won't finish it today but will try to get as far as possible.
Feel better Emily!

I'm reading:
Daisy Jones & The Six and The Concrete Blonde but probably will not be finished for a few days

Hope you get some good meds and feel better, Emily!
Start my audiobook this morning. Hopefully I can get it done today.

My plan is to read 4 chapters of The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History today (I already got one done) and the other 4 tomorrow. I'll also be jumping between my other 2 books and hopefully finish them by Tuesday.

I am going to get started on The Handmaid's Tale: The Graphic Novel and am finishing up the audio book for Little Women. I had questions on both that I posted on FAQ page, once I know how to handle I will add them to the spreadsheet.
I hope to finish both today.
Thanks for all the love, everyone! I do have strep, so I'm waiting on my antibiotics to get to the pharmacy. Hopefully it's all uphill from here.
Don't forget to update pages read as well! We want to earn those wild cards!

Today I started and finished The Poet X: A Novel by Elizabeth Acevedo (it is a story told in poetry). It was 3.5 hours of audio! I plugged it in for carnivore which of the six categories it fit had the lowest number of possible options. It could be moved to one of the other options as needed. I really liked this and as not much of a poetry reader, listening to the author read this was definitely the way to go.
That's great, Edie! I have wanted to read that one but was always intimidated by the poetry aspect. Might go for the audio!

I don't know that I could have "read" this... certainly not in a day. I couldn't bear to stop the audio... wanting to know what happened next. With the author reading this it was a "page turner".
Good to know, Edie!
As our day winds down, team, don't forget to put in your pages and audio hours for the day. If you can't make it to the spreadsheet, feel free to post it here and I can add it for you.

I will add my pages read before I go to bed. Didn’t get as much reading done as I had hoped, too many errands to run, but tomorrow looks better for reading.

Didn’t expect it to fit so many dinosaur prompts at once, but here we are...

I finished The Handmaid's Tale: The Graphic Novel not sure where I should put that.
Looks like I won't finish little women today, hopefully tomorrow. Then I just need to figure out what comes next...

Good morning, Cocoa Pebbles!
I just checked out the spreadsheet and WOW we got some work done yesterday! It looks like we've earned four Wild Cards, and we've knocked out four words from Dinosaur!
I have some errands to run this morning, so I'll be getting in some audiobook hours, but once I'm home, I'm home for the day, and will hopefully get reading done.

Happy reading today!
Oh, thanks for answering that Kathy Jo. I missed it.
Samantha, I just put it on "munching on leaves", since that had the lesser books of the two options you had.

The rules can be found at this thread.
Your team should begin by choosing which level they will tackle first! You must complete the level you chose before moving on to the other levels.
For each word/phrase in a level, you must fill it in one of four ways:
1: Both of the author's initials are in the word/phrase
2: The word/phrase is in the title
3: The cover depicts something related to the word/phrase
4: The word/phrase is written exactly or acted out within the book
The words/phrases are:
Big Cat Level
1. Sahara desert
2. pride
3. fastest mammal
4. kittens
5. whisker
6. tigers and panthers
7. rescue
8. The Lion King

3. labrador

Don't forget to track your pages read each day! This can earn you Wild Cards to knock out those tricky words.
Here is a link to your group spreadsheet, where you can track and plan: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
Happy reading!
Reminder: The Read-A-Thon does not begin until you wake up on Saturday. Use this time to plan your books and start strategizing!
