I am absolutely 100% for equal marriage rights.It would be the the ultimate feat in self-loathing if I wasn't.
But you will most likely never see a picture of me with a piece of duct tape over my mouth and 'NO H8' painted on my face.
That's just ridiculous.
The message is severely blurred, and I wonder if whoever came up with it was thinking straight when they did it.
The duct tape makes it look like you're silencing yourself, and every other pro-LGBTQ campaign says we should never be silent.
The 'NO H8' thing (other than bugging me like crazy, I hate that numbers-as-words thing, it's just lazy) makes sense.
I guess.
Haters suck. It's them who should have the duct tape over their mouths, not the hated.
But 'silencing' haters isn't going to stop the problem. There will always been hate in the world. It sucks but it's the truth.
The only way that you, yourself, can rise above hate is to never apologize or be ashamed for who you are.
I know, I know. Easier said than done.
But it makes more sense than red fingerpaint and a nonsense numeric 'word', doesn't it?
