When he realizes how close I am to them and how much their mom has taken me in and sees how badly my relationship with my mom, his stepmom who was always ever so supportive of HIM, deteriorated after the divorce , I'm worried he's going to feel bad about everything that happened.

I don't hold it against him. I'm glad my mother loves him even if they aren't blood. She's OUR mom, she always has been.
But Amy showed me more support in one night than my mom has in a year.
I'm an adult and I can take care of myself, but when someone sees you struggling and genuinely wants to help you because they care about you, not to save face (Matti and Drake weren't even there) it makes you realize that there were places you should've been able to find it earlier in your life.
