^^^^ a lot of people got called idiots for liking the movie or the comics though. It really wasn;t fair and it was really misguided.
Stupid thing to be so happy about but i FINALLY found a way to carry my rubber bands around with me without having them fall out of my pocket/losing them in my bag; they fold almost flat to they ride in my wallet now.Makes sense. There's never much money in there.
I have a really basic little wallet (the black one with the black and white checkered flames on it, had it for-freaking-ever) with just a billfold and a slot for all your cards so it's easy to get them in there.
Smiling a lot was the hardest thing about working yesterday, honestly. I hate my braces and i hate smiling now. But you have to be nice to the customers and scowling at them is really rude.
one lady did say i was pretty, though. that was nice of her.
i just REALLY don't wanna check. I like bagging but if it comes with cashiering I'll give it up. I'd rather clean or stock or pretty much anything else.Once I'm done with the trial period (if i don't fuck that up) i'm gonna tell the boss I'll do anything at all the store needs done. because i just don't like pecking at a board OR the idea I'll fuck up and have to call on the com for someone to fix it. Nopenopenope.
The machine's pretty basic but I don't like all the steps. They make me nervous.

Annnyway. Did okay on the register. Still wanna ditch it as soon as possible but i know i need to learn.Today I saw:

-my neighbor and his mother (or aunt. I honestly don't know...) who are both awesome.
Small town grocery store, you GONNA see people you know. Yesterday I saw one of the flea market ladies and a friend of mine who used to work AT the store.
Also this one kid, like thirteen or fourteen, came in and i saw he had braces so i said "Hey, I like your braces." and smiled and when he saw I had them too his face just lit up <3
Oh. And word to the wise: the 1st of the month is food stamp day. It's busy as fuck and there are EXTRA steps.The cashier I was working under had to jump in for me on the bigger carts but i bag groceries like lightning so that was totally fine with me.

I got to 405 :0 hi, area code!-Went to a comic book store in Austin. Purchased: Sci-Fu, Not Drunk Enough and The Witch Boy, ALL tbr books!
I made myself motion sick reading in the car but it was worth it. Got through almost half of Staked. Hopefully finishing Monday-Tuesday.I haven't been able to get in touch at work and i don't have my schedule. Ah, annoying. I just need to go ask whoever's at the booth for it tomorrow afternoon. Makes me anxious because I'm still thbe new guy. Fingers crossed.
I stayed at Evan's on Thursday night. He has this massive sofa that's bigger than my twin bed. Would've stayed last night but his daughter came in late and her boss had her at this sketchy motel in South Austin. She had some buddies too, so they needed it more than me.
Gonna draw and watch Toomai and read some more. All that good stuff :DHopefully on tomorrow. Ya can always get me in PMs.

That moment when you realize half the people you work with are younger than you.
I mean we're all *basically* the same age because they're all seniors in high school (which, i guess i am? But i've given that up. It was stupid for me to act like i was one of them) and they're seventeen/almost eighteen, but I've just... I've been plunked down into teenagerdom. And it's not fun.
Like, okay, K is REALLY nice. She's really cute and she's funny and she doesn't give me shit when i ask her for help. But A, on the other hand, who i thought was pretty cool at first but now i realize was being nice to me in front of our boss, is a jerky honor roll loser who thinks because he's whatever the smartest in your graduating class is, he's above his minimum wage job that he does WELL at.When i told K I was homeschooled and I was taking HiSet prep to get my diploma, he just goes "Oh, so you'll still be here after the summer."
Which, yeah, I will because i can't fucking afford to go to college right now. But am i making things up or was that a shitty thing to say?
Plus he has to be an asshole when I ask him for help. I'm still the new guy, alright? I've seen people who've worked there four years fuck up at least once in the not quite a week I've been there. Plus his loser ass has the whole fucking list of produce codes memorized. Why should i hold up a customer's day looking for it on my mile long sheet when i could just ask him what it is while he's standing at the booth not doing anything?
I used to think i was too good for minimum wage, too, just for the record. I was sure I'd be in a band or drawing for a living or something by the time I was eighteen like all those stupid youtubers.But i don't have rich parents. Which is the only thing those morons with webcams actually have going for them. And I don't let that run my life or my feelings regarding it. I'm living my life the best I can for what I have and where I'm at. If that makes me trash, then so be it.
I dunno, maybe A was just in a shitty mood. Doesn't give you the right to be a jerk to someone but we've all done it. It's easy to pick at the new guy, especially when they're so much lower than you on the food chain.
