Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
So I ended up DNFing this around 72%. My library loan for the better-formatted version I was reading was ending, and... I just didn't care all that much to renew it or read MY copy. There likely wouldn't have been much difference in my rating either way. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I didn't comment on the lack of female representation in the book, because, honestly, I had so many other issues with it that that seemed kinda trivial, though yesterday while I was at the airport TRYING to read it, and I got to the section which opened with "[Character] steepled manicured fingers[...]. The man sitting across from [Character]..." and I made all SORTS of comments about shitty stereotyping based on manicures and not gendering the person who was steepling their fingers as female, because they don't even deserve to get a specific mention of their femininity?! WTF... But the MAN gets to have his gender weighted and thrown about with impunity... Etc etc etc. It was a whole thing in my kindle notes. O_O
...And then it was revealed that they were male. So... False alarm.
I had a good chuckle at myself for that.
