jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I'm and idiot! I *knew* I was going to read Murder by Yew since I already had it. Ha ha! The book I actually have is A Corpse for Yew and there's no 4! Thank goodness I have a backup book. Now I'll be reading The Nightingales of Troy: Stories of One Family's Century, which might also be my December challenge book.

Sounds like an interesting book, I suppose I'll have to add it to my tbr (great dramatic sigh).

REALLY!!! I can't restrain myself from the first books I see! ☻

Closing eyes...going to read.

LOL. Good one.

message 14: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I'm here at home reading The Wine of Angels. I hope I get a participation badge, even if I don't complete it by tomorrow. It's huge! Plus, I'm feeling so sleepy for some reason. Time for a 5-hour energy drink to come to the rescue. I think I have one here.

Kinda miss hanging with sis while doing the toppler. But, she's listening to her first one on audio, so it wouldn't have worked out too well for me to be hanging with her. Will join her early tomorrow morning to finish things off.

Happy toppling, everyone.

message 15: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Debra, if you need occasional book-related diversion, check out the buddy read thread (from a couple of months ago) for Wine of Angels. I believe all spoilers are marked.

message 16: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I think I'm going to make some tea and read in bed. And, yeah, there will be a nap at some point. But hopefully not before I get a good bit of reading done :)

message 17: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I got up at 7:00am and it was cold and raining and too early to read so I crawled back under the covers. Now, I've slept the first 42 minutes away and my birds are calling and demanding their breakfast. As soon as I get my coffee and breakfast, I will be starting The Girl Who ...

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments Glad to see so many reading! I'm listening to my first book and should finish it by dinner time.

message 19: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2974 comments Ooops, fell asleep on the sofa for a cozy afternoon nap! Up now and time to choose a book.

message 20: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Almeta wrote: "Starting The Sisters Brothers right now."

I absolutely LOVED this one but I think it's a book that people either love or hate. I'm curious to see how you feel about it, Almeta. I hope you love it. :)

message 21: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I was out running errands when it turned 12p and then had to do the dishes when I got home BUT I have some tea ready to go and I'm going up to hopefully hibernate a bit (from the family) to get some reading in. I'm pretty sure I won't finish my book by tomorrow (can't hide away too long or they will come looking) but I'll have fun trying! Good luck to all!

message 22: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments I am reading The Sandcastle Girls.

message 23: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4026 comments 14% through my book and I'm sleepy already. It's 1am here. Might have to brew a cup of tea.

Looks good, Connie. How is it?

message 25: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Just started. I am making a slow start today. I don't know why I can't get motivated. I think I'll take your lead and have some tea. That should make everything better. : )

Hope your book is grand! You are up awfully late. : )

message 26: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments I am reading Their Eyes Were Watching Godtoday. Not sure I'm going to finish today, but I'll do my best.

message 27: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments I'm reading Keeper of the Castle. My number is three and it has 300+ pages. I've already finished my second mug of tea. Between mugs I curled up in bed with a cat beside me to read for awhile. It seems to be a good day.

message 28: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Stopped for something to eat, and drinking some tea.

Half way through The Sisters Brothers. Entertaining so far. (view spoiler) Moving along quickly.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments Over half finished with The Restaurant at the End of the Universe and will be done in 2 hours. This is the kind of book that works well in audio. It's rather silly stuff that lets me do other things without fearing I'll miss some crucial detail to the storyline.

message 30: by Canadian Dragon (new)

Canadian Dragon | 1020 comments Is anyone else's cat being incredibly friendly today?? Lol Bingo keeps climbing all over me on the couch even when I change positions she is climbing on my back and laying on my book.

Scout wants to be in my lap as I type. Kinda awkward! Not making as much progress on my book. Slowly, but surely, tho.

Will have to check out the buddy read, as suggested by a couple of people.

message 32: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I took a break for some lunch, talked with my sister on Skype and now I'm settling back into the Toppler. I couldn't stand it any more. I had to get dressed and make the bed. So much for staying in my jammies all day.

I'm about 1/2 way in my book and really enjoying it. It's book 1 in a series, so it's possible highly likely I'll be continuing the series in the new year.

message 33: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I'm having a jammies day plus cooking/baking and reading. Getting ready for an annual holiday get-together this evening. Making a favorite crab/shrimp casserole and a pineapple upside cake from scratch. Have only read 3 chapters of my first book but will probably stay up late and finish tonight reading in bed. Very unlikely to get more than one book done, if that. Enjoying the book tho... The Maine Event.

Around noon I heard a fire engine siren briefly followed shortly after by some very loud Christmas music. Looked out my back kitchen window and saw Santa in an open-style fire engine accompanied by several fire fighters and a few plain-clothes folks. Ran to front door to stand on porch and wave. Hubby too. I couldn't stop smiling and they showered our front sidewalk with Christmas chocolate kisses and other candies.

It is silly stuff! But amusing in smallish amounts. Not a series I'd want to read back-to-back for sure. Still it is fun : )

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments Janet, I agree. I listened to the first book over a year ago. This came up when looking for a book for the monthly challenge, so this does double-duty. By the way, I made a mistake on time. I now have 2 hours to go.

When my nephew was young we'd go to my sister's for Christmas, and the firetrucks would come through the neighborhood on Christmas Eve and throw candy to everyone.

Oh, could you please send some of that yummy sounding food my way? I might have to leave the house for food otherwise :)

message 37: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments How nice of the cats to be helping. Jingo wants to bite my arm if I take too long turning a page - he considers my rubbing/scratching him to be a much more important duty.

I did have a short nap, but otherwise am enjoying my book.

message 38: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments Well I've had a nice day with my parents visiting then up to see my uncle/aunt this evening. Just got back and reading through the posts then I'll start my book! I'm reading The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making

message 39: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I had a sandwich and washed dishes and started laundry and am back to reading The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making. Very different! I cannot think this is a book for kids. My 12 yo granddaughter would not read it. She is more into The Fault in Our Stars.

message 40: by Lara (new)

Lara | 1426 comments I finished my first book,About Last Night, which was a fun romance. It filled the number 21 with 216 pages.

For number 7 I am (also) reading The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments I've Toppled the first book off my TBR list for this Toppler! I just finished The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams. Next up will be Tobacco Road by Erskine Caldwell.

message 42: by Tasha (new)

Tasha congrats :)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I finished my first book, Devil in a Blue Dress. Now I'm craving pizza, and I'm thinking I should order a small one and go pick it up before I tie into my next book.

Stephanie Mmmmm..pizza!! We had Mc'Donalds :)

message 45: by Kazen (last edited Dec 06, 2014 03:52PM) (new)

Kazen 9 am here in Japan so it's time for a full day of reading! I think I'll start with The Headmaster and see where I go from there. :)

Eta: oh wait, not enough pages! Good thing I have a backup! Three Weeks With Lady X

message 46: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments It's about 7pm and I'm only 1/3 of the way through The Wine of Angels. And feeling soooo sleepy. Held off all day on napping. I just downed a 5-hour energy drink. Nasty tasting stuff! Hopefully I can get through a bit more before I conk out!

message 48: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4020 comments Will there be a reporting thread?

message 49: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 915 comments Finished Noisy outlaws, unfriendly blobs, and some other things that aren't as scary, maybe, depending on how you feel about lost lands, stray cellphones, creatures from the sky, parents who disappear in Peru, a man named Lars Farf, and one other story ... . It was a 3 star read; some stories definitely better than other ones but overall it made me chuckle and had a few good lines.

I will start my second book in a while; kids are here and decided we are putting up the Christams tree and doing decorations today.
