Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Ah you guys did an awesome job! The only reading I've done in the past 24 hours is airport signs and boards, but next time I will be all over it!

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I have not finished my book The Maine Event and won't by deadline. I like it but just too busy right now to get much reading done. Wish I was heading to the pub for Sunday lunch and a pint (Sarah!) but I've got to head downtown for a volunteer shift selling nutcrackers and such to ballet patrons. Sunday matinee is fun because that's when there are tons of wee ones - all dressed up - there with their parents :-)

message 103: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I finished my book, One Grave Too Many. I picked number 8 and this one had 383 pages. I am very surprised I finished but my family was very helpful letting me read. Plus we had a very quiet weekend so I had lots of time! This is my first 24 hour toppler. :)

You just want another Toppler Glue Stick! I hope you feel better - it's much more fun when you've been too busy having fun to finish.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments I've finished my 3rd book, The Screwtape Letters. Speeding it up to 1.25 playback shaved 20+ minutes off the last almost 2.5 hours I had left to read.

As for adjusting playback speed, my iPod Nanos (6th & 7th generation) only have options for 2x and 1/2x, but the Audible app on my iPhone does .75, 1.25, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3 times normal. If you get Hoopla through your library and use that app on your iPhone, playback options are 1.25 and 1.5. I generally don't speed up my books, but occasionally I will use 1.25 or 1.5 to save time. Only once did I use 2 - double speed - to get through a book I wasn't liking but wanted to see if it got any better. It didn't!

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments Oh yes, I almost forgot. Congrats to Rebecca on your 5 book finish. You'll have everyone wanting you on their teams when it's time for Team Topplers!

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I finished my book, and am still trying to figure out lots of it. My brain has had a hard time this week, and I think it's given out on me. I can feel myself crashing again, so I'm off to bed for awhile. Lots of posts I want to reply to, and books to add, but will have to wait til this evening.

message 109: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments I finished my book, Keeper of the Castle. I'm pleasantly surprised that I finished in time. Last night, a little past midnight, I could not keep my eyes open and I thought I had over thirty pages left. I woke up this morning with about 45 minutes left, and started reading. It turned out that I was actually only about 15 pages from the end, and the pages after that were a preview of a coming book. Even without those pages, though, the book was 314 pages. My number was three, so I'm covered. I enjoyed the book. It was a fluffy paranormal mystery, third or fourth in a series I follow, about a woman named Mel Turner who heads up Turner Construction. They renovate haunted houses and Mel can see and talk to ghosts. I really like the characters.

I agree completely with Kristie's comments about The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. I read it a couple of years ago. The most interesting thing about the book is the way the autistic point of view character thinks.

Well done, Lara.

Hope you're having a good trip, Kat.

message 112: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Congrats to everyone who finished books.

@Rebecca - that is amazing! Definitely has to be a record!

Well I failed miserably! I've read 79 pages of The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making. That has to be a record for me (but a negative one). I know I've not finished books before but I've generally been closer to finishing them than this. Oh well! The book is very good though.

Enjoy your trip Kat!

Lynn | 2974 comments Sneaking in to report just a little late but I did finish my book last night rather than today.

My number is 13

Book was Tangled, published in 2013

I chose the number 2 and read Miss Zukas and the Library Murders which had 244 pages. I finished it this morning. It was an okay read but I wasn't thrilled with the main character and not sure I'll continue the series. I did knock it off the tbr pile so I can say it was another successful toppler!

Wow 4 hours! I konked off for 9!! :(

You did better than I did - I think I slept more than 12 hours during the 24 hour Toppler! I have felt groggy all weekend, mainly due to two prescriptions that weren't available. I hope they come in before work tomorrow, or I'm in big trouble.

I use Overdrive on my iPod and there is a speed function. It is to the right of the alarm clock on the top line. It looks like an old fashioned elevator dial. An arc with one hand, with 1x. If you press it, you get a menue that says Play Speed.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I got about 3 hrs sleep before my daughter and granddaughter showed up for their sewing project. We are going to make 8"×8" potholders. 4 each for 8 people that my daughter works with (cooks all). We got the material and all cut out, but no sewing yet. I have to pick up some more batting and fusable interfacing for the first name initials that we decided to put on each.

message 136: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Hooray for everyone who participated! I feel like I was only partly there, and I'm sorry for that. I know ya'll have no trouble carrying on, but I missed the checking in chatter. Looks like there will be a few Toppler gluesticks to hand out this time :)

Cherie - the potholders sound like a fun project and a great gift for the cooks.

Thanks so much, Jaxnsmom. I hope your new car is working out well for you. I am hoping 2015 is going to be a grand year for me and my family. (I am afraid to say that too loudly though because I might jinx myself. lol )

Cherie, the sewing project sounds like a wonderful thing to do with your granddaughter. I still cherish special activities with my grandmother and great aunt.

Oh I started off sick, but my reading problem was more
Me: "I need to go read my book"
Lexx: "We need to do this this and this now though."

For the whole day. But I'm going to claim the gluestick excuse ;) I really only read 50pp, so it doesn't really count. But enough to know that the translator doesn't speak 'Straylan.
