Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 505 comments Ok. Luckily we had another color cover done and I was able to move a couple books around so we won't need any more books for our UNO cards.

Not like we wouldn't be able to fill it before the end of the month :P

We still have some books we need for the mini-challenge but once we're done with them, we'll have a little breather. Good time to finish any books started before UNO started, to read some shorter stories or to start some longer books (& finish them in March so we can use them for March cards!).

Which shows? I just watched Rocketman & it was even better than I thought it would be! And watched the 1st episode of Hunters on Amazon which started off pretty good. We'll see if it stays that way...

Which book are you waiting for?

Am I understanding this correctly...if we start books now or in the next few days and we don´t manage to finish them before March, they will count for the March Uno cards?

Jodi | 130 comments Can we use a yellowish cover for starfruit as the flesh of a starfruit is yellow?

message 272: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 964 comments Cathy M. wrote: "Umm that one actually won’t work. # has to be series or publication date."

If it is easier to find a book for the number 1, we could move Prästens lilla flicka (Höga kusten, #1) by Susan Casserfelt to 12. It was published 2016-12-21

I could probably finish the book I just started (first in a series) before the end of the month if no one else has something for 1.

message 273: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 964 comments Jodi wrote: "Can we use a yellowish cover for starfruit as the flesh of a starfruit is yellow?"

Is it a similar yellow as star fruit? If yes, I think we could use it since the info for the mini challenge used the following example:

A green coloured book? Is the green a bit like a "lime"?!

message 274: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 130 comments We could use one of the yellow covers we already have🤷🏻‍♀️ If green works for limes then yellow should work for starfruit.

Not sure which one you mean. I read 2 yellow titles and neither would work - 1 was read before the mini-challenge and the 2nd is a light yellow which I wouldn't use for starfruit (not exactly a similar color). No one else read any yellow covers.

I did find starfruit in Croissant Murder (A Patisserie Mystery #5) by Harper Lin which I'll read if no one else finds anything. Though I won't be able to get to it until the end of the week.

We also need to work on the recipe...

Oh yay! Good thing I posted that list. I really really wasn't looking forward to reading that cozy. I read another one in that series last year and pretty much hated it.

I'm sure we have a couple #1 in series going right now (even me) so we can fill it with whoever finishes first. It's one of those that won't take too much thought and will fill pretty much on its own.

Jodi | 130 comments Do any of you do any other team challenges or games?

This is my first time playing uno and I’ve done The Bachelor’ team challenge before with Romance Readers group. This has been fun and motivated me to read a lot more! I love seeing what everyone else is reading too 😊

message 294: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 505 comments Yea, too many.

At Game Night they play a lot of different team games but most of them are more structured (1 book/week). And SOS has a Bingo game that's popular every year that draws a lot of the same players. But again, it's only 1 book/week.

NBRC has probably the most fun team games like this. Pretty much read-a-thons. The 2 big ones are Wheel-a-thon (spelling words) and Tower Teams (pretty much just read read read with challenges thrown in). The next big one should be coming up after Uno, probably in May or June since 2 of the mods are mods in this group as well.

message 295: by Cathy M. (last edited Feb 26, 2020 04:54PM) (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 505 comments Also if you like challenges where you go at your own pace but have tasks to fill, a new (started in January) fun one that lasts all year is Kill the Dragon at the My Vampire Book Obsession group (doesn't have to be paranormal books). It's also similar to NBRC's Novel Role-Playing Game, which was my all-time favorite individual challenge, though it hasn't had anything new on it in a couple years since the mod overseeing it left the group. But there were a ton of quests and monsters to kill so you could always start from the beginning and it will take a long time (years) to complete. It was fun to complete quests, gain pets, level up weapons and fight the monsters.
