You can't Karren - or I can't anyway. Phrynne can tell you what app you need but it's never successful. I don't request/download them when they're PDF because I can't read them on my laptop.

Thanks Brenda, that’s much appreciated and hope it’s corrected for Alissa’s sake

Same, miss out on some great books by favourite authors because I refuse to read in an app. I most likely will read them eventually from the library but never leave a review for them only a rating, so figure it’s their loss as I always review my Netgalley books.

You can read it on the NetGalley app but it's not very friendly.

Yes, that's exactly right. Harper Collins AU is the main one who only ever releases NG books by PDF. Quite a lot send PDF to kindle and they're fine. It's the only PDF which isn't fine.

Just click on the not going to read link then explain why Karren....

The app I use is Digital Editions but it puts the book on my iPad, not on my Kindle. I don't mind too much for the occasional book but I really prefer to read on my Kindle.

Thanks Phrynne, I will get my husband to check out the app and I'm hopeless with technology. I prefer to read on my kindle and I wont request anymore books from them.

I was using that on my old tablet but it stopped working. On my new tablet I have the NetGalley app, not the friendliest, but will do for books I really want to read.

I have just received another response from Alissa, Marlin.
Hi Brenda 🙂 Thanks so much again for the heads up about the net galley issues. Just heard back from publisher and someone from digital was going to look into it and by later this afternoon an updated copy should be available to download. Fingers crossed problem is fixed.
When I asked if people who had downloaded it would be notified so they could get the updated copy she said:
Good question - to be honest I'm not sure but they might surprise me 🙂 They also should hopefully answer any messages that have been sent to them about the corrupted file.
So there should be an updated file from tomorrow Marlin which you can download if you wish :) Good luck with it.

Thanks for following that up Brenda, might give them a bit more time and try tomorrow.
Much appreciated
Australian author Diane Armstrong has a new historical fiction available on NG. But be aware, it's only PDF (thank goodness I looked!!)
Dancing with the Enemy

I didn't look Brenda, I requested a copy and was approved. Harlequin Australia doesn't normally send PDF's and I'm rather disappointed and upset.

It has Text randomly through in larger font with "reading Material" not for sale or some such, seems to be missing a few words etc.
Just a heads up for anybody else that has applied for this book
I have messaged Netgallery and they are going to contact the Publisher to see if they can receive a better copy.
It is such a shame, as it is a beautifully written book, so I still trying to read it, even with the bad format.

It's really weird but when you search for title & author, it's not showing up but when searching on isbn (found on NG), it's showing up The Crimson Thread
Maybe, it's just been created so GR database hasn't caught up yet... dunno...

How do you tell if it is a PDF before requesting, I have been caught once and thankfully all of you Ladies let me know when it is a PDF but I cannot work out how to tell before I request a book, thanks you for your help :)

I know - they're always great. I'm not sure why I checked, but I'm glad I did! I think I'll have to go the library route...

Scroll to the bottom of the page Helen. On the LHS is the ISBN and what sort of book it is (paperback, hardcover, ebook) on the RHS is the format and if it says Kindle (PDF) that's fine. If it just says PDF, it's not fine!! Bookouture for example always has Kindle (Mobi) which is the ideal one to get.

So am I Brenda and all the new Harlequin books on NetGalley are in PDF form.
I think I know why Harlequin have moved over to PDF only - they're owned by HarperCollins AU and they've done it for ages. I have some already by Harlequin - picked one up yesterday and it was kindle PDF. So they've only just changed it :(

That is really sad if they change them over PDF's

Yes I might email Eloise and see what she says fingers crossed they don't change them all over :)
Oh good, you have a contact. That would be a great idea. Please let us know what she says. Thanks.

I only noticed this morning Brenda, and I read the approval email that's changed as well. I tried contacting NetGalley, I can't access the help feature or send a message. I feel like emailing Harlequin, I just upgraded my kindle and who can read a book on a phone?

Please send Eloise a message from all of us Helen.

Exactly! It seems strange that they discriminate against people who want to read on their kindle only.
