I don't blame you for being confused Andrea. It makes a mockery of the 'read now' section that's for sure! Maybe you should contact them and ask about it - and please let us know if you do, and what they say :)

Andrea, I've experienced the same thing and I am currently in communication with NG about this.
The initial response I got said that it is likely to do with geographic markets but they would look further at the issue for me.
They did ask me for further info and that was sent earlier today so I don't expect a response until a few days have passed.

FYI, I turned off the option about seeing only my marketplace.

Thanks for the update Em_Jay. Do you mean you turned it off before or after it happened? I haven’t changed it from the default (which I think they said is ‘on’).

I amended my profile soon after the email was sent from GR. I wanted to see everything even if I wasn't eligible.

Lee at ReadWriteWish (leeatreadwritewish) | 322 comments I have had this problem before. The issue with me was that I had requested the book previously, before it was moved to the 'read now' section, but was knocked back. Then, when it went to 'read now', it basically said that I'd requested the book and the answer was no and still no, even though everyone else on NetGalley was getting it via the read now section. Was a bit annoying. I mean I was obviously interested in the book in the first place, then, due to insufficient requests I imagine, they changed it to read now and I still missed out!

I've had this too, really unfair!

That's been a long standing issue that a lot of people have complained about before but alas without change. Very annoying!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments The last short story by Jeffery Deaver I got from Amazon Original Stories was very good, so I grabbed Cause of Death which is READ NOW.

Also available for request is #6 in Elly Griffiths's Stephens & Mephisto series, The Midnight Hour

I was down to 22 titles until I got these two. Still at 93% though...

Excellent! I enjoy the Original Stories series, although I admit to being a soft touch for a good short story to begin with.

Apparently not new, published originally 2013? But even if I have read some of the stories before, I've still requested it. I don't have a lot of luck with Soho Press, but anything by Mick Herron...

You are lucky if your library is still open Marianne!

message 844: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Our libraries are not open, but the return chutes are, and during lockdown we can reserve a maximum of 10 books. These are posted out to us when the branch has them. I hope they keep doing this and it doesn't get too expensive.
I actually couldn't reserve any books because I already had 13 on my reserve list when they brought this rule in, all books "on order", so I applied online for a library card for hubby and reserve on his .... a bit sneaky, I know

I wish my library would show a bit of concern for all the people who are stuck at home needing books. Our council just seemed to pack their bags and go home on day one of the lockdown and all services just stopped!

message 849: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79969 comments Mod
Would it help to contact them with those concerns do you think? Mental health and more would be concerning especially after the length of lockdown so far.

message 850: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Actually, every tine I receive a book in the mail from the library, I post on social media (Facebook, Instagram) with a pic and say "Thanks to Wollongong City Libraries for keeping us sane during lockdown"
