Kaje Harper | 17377 comments I figured I'd open a thread for people to comment, ask questions or make suggestions.

Directions for writing in the story are at the top of the story thread - everyone is welcome!! Go check it out.

But since I don't want the story cluttered with questions or applause, I figured I'd make this a place to do that.
So post away as you like here.

Nice second instalment A.J. - a little tension mounts...

message 2: by A.J. (new)

A.J. Raven (ajraven) Thanks...first time I'm doing this, it's fun!! I've got a whole little novella planned out in my head with Ryan and Zach ;) but yeah, going to wait for others to add in and make it more enjoyable :)

message 3: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments It is an interesting process - sometimes you mentally go "wait! That's not where I was going!" but it's lots of fun, and some people can be off the wall brilliant. We'll see...

If no one jumps in soon to twist what I have put down in new direction, I will add a bit more, in hopes my next drop off point gives the next person a more open place to twist and turn the storyline.

K (k-polipetl) | 4090 comments Give those from other parts of the world a chance to catch up!

It's only just morning here and plot bunnies take a while to warm up and start working in cold weather :)

We don't get real winter in most of California, but we are getting bucket loads of rain right now. It is pretty safe to predict that the great drought of the last few years is over. We have already had more rain this fall than we had all last year.

However, soggy weather is always good for springing up plot bunnies, don't you think?

message 9: by Jay (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Okay, a Sci-fi twist. Fun.

message 10: by Jay (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments I hope it was not too soon to throw a little romance and self-outing in, but moments of duress can do that, so I decided to toss that twist in.

message 11: by Jay (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Wow! I just love where A.J. keeps turning and twisting the story. But so far, everyone has made a lot of fun, too. It's way too late here in CA, so I'll catch up again after I catch some Zs, counting snowflakes and hot elemental dudes.

message 12: by Rez (new)

Rez Delnava (rez_delnava) Too late here in CA? I resemble that remark. Resemble, not resent, since I love being a Nocti.
I'm just now starting to read the story so far, so I might post sometime later Sunday afternoon if I find something to add. That is if I can get my plot bunnies to procreate to something other than my NaNoWriMo.

message 13: by Rez (new)

Rez Delnava (rez_delnava) Alright, never mind about the 'later' thing. My plot bunnies got their acts together.

I'm kinda irked at myself though, I was trying to keep to the third person voice that was being used, but somewhere in the middle, my first-person tendencies took over and then I flopped back to third-person at the end.

And being on my cell… No edit button in the app. So I can't fix my blunder.

You can always fix later if you want - it doesn't affect the next installment, just a typo (and yeah, if you're used to writing one voice or tense, it's hard to stay in another.) Nice little twist. My turn I think...

message 15: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments And oops - timing issues. S'okay - I pulled mine out - fun twist there Horida and AJ.

message 16: by Horaida (new)

Horaida Rodriguez (horaidalikdafri) | 47 comments Kaje wrote: "Hey Horida, we actually posted too close together, eh? But I pulled mine out and put it after yours instead. Sorry it kind of undoes your twist, though."

That's okay Kaje. Things like that are bound to happen.

message 17: by A.J. (new)

A.J. Raven (ajraven) Oh! My bad Kaje...i just read Horaida's entry and went from there...so, yeah your turn now ^^

Well, AJ rescued it very nicely so we're good :)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Wow, this is so much twisted fun! Okay, so A.J. when the world turns back to your side, have fun. I just twisted it, again.

And Kaje, jump in.

message 20: by Rez (new)

Rez Delnava (rez_delnava) I'm so very glad someone picked up my plot bunny! My trailing end, I was hoping someone would take toward the 'wasn't sure if he was unconscious' route and apply a kick to the prone Ryan. The added twist of psychic control is great.

message 21: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments Someone else can if they want - I just found one of my books pirated on Amazon, so I'm a bit tied up with that.

message 22: by Rez (new)

Rez Delnava (rez_delnava) @Kaje
I will abstain until you have the time. I want to see what you have. You've had a plot bunny tied up and held hostage for few hours according to this thread. I will be patient.

That totally sucks! I hope that gets resolved quickly.

I'm sure it will - this guy basically took a bunch of books, pasted a title/name banner over the existing covers and put them up with no other changes. They are in Kindle Unlimited, so I bet he's hoping people read the minimum 10% and he'd get paid. Although it looks like he sold at least one copy of mine since it has a sales ranking. ($5 for 116 pages yet! Ouch - I do hope the buyer gets a refund.) It should be cut and dried. But I'm peeved, including with Amazon that they get more money from my books than I do, and yet missed something this blatant for 2 weeks. No humans involved there, clearly.

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments Well to balance the annoyance of plagiarism, I'm thrilled that my YA collection Rainbow Briefs, freebies I wrote for this group and released as Kira Harp with Sara Winters' editing help, came in second in the "Best LGBT Anthology/Collection" category in the Rainbow Awards.

message 26: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments Did my bit. We'll see who comes along next.

Very cool. Another reason to read it, soon.

message 28: by Jay (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments I tossed in another little tweak on their powers, and limitations thereof. I hope that's okay.

message 29: by Rez (last edited Dec 08, 2014 12:04AM) (new)

Rez Delnava (rez_delnava) I was hoping someone would follow up on the limits with some clarification. We can't have them fainting all the time in the action sequences.

I kinda want to jump back in with a nostalgia induced, nerdy book/movie reference to help explain their powers more. Its a very active plot bunny this, and it wants out.

I will contain it for a while longer since I can interject the idea anytime the plot rolls back into explanations of the powers. Let others have their turns.

I think you should just go for it. I enjoy the humor you bring to the table when you have at it.

message 31: by Jay (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Cool action, A.J. I hope my short jump in left things enough up in the air. Speaking of which, anyone up for a little anonymous air elemental assist for the two MCs? Or are they going to just have to go it alone?

message 32: by Kaje (last edited Dec 08, 2014 01:49PM) (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments I might have you guys hold back for just a bit, to see if someone else wants to jump in? I love the story so far, but we might see if anyone is hanging about waiting. If not then release the flying plot bunnies!!!

Sure thing. We do not want to prevent participation by hogging it.

Haha...yup...will leave it for a while and see if someone else wants to jump in :)

message 35: by Jay (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Yeah, Kira! Thanks for introducing a new character and shifting the story track once again.

message 36: by Jay (last edited Dec 14, 2014 09:59AM) (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments I have not lost interest in this project or storyline, but since I have posted a lot of mini-twists, I am waiting for someone else to jump in.

message 38: by Kaje (last edited Dec 14, 2014 07:30AM) (new)

A.J. gave it a nice twist, and upped the stakes considerably.

I loved your twist, but had to twist it again...and Kaje, don't be shy just because you're one of the moderators and you have a story for publication to edit. This might just be the diversion you need in the midst of editing.

Avery, K, Horaida, Kira, and Rez, I hope you all jump back in again, as well. The fun is in the twisting of the tale.

And this group writing, round-robin activity should have its own thread as "LGBT Tale Twisters" don't you think?

message 41: by Kaje (last edited Dec 14, 2014 11:12AM) (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments Nice title. We've done it a few times, just as the month's creative writing. If people wanted to do it more often, we might create a separate folder. Depends on the participation. In retrospect, December might be a busy month for people. We'll see.

message 42: by Rez (new)

Rez Delnava (rez_delnava) I'll need to catch up on the happenings in the story; I'm about 12 hours behind on reading through my social media... but I will be rejoining now that the gate has been lifted on the plot-bunny cage.

One question tho... should we set some kind of plot goal for the end of the story? I mean, I'd be fine with just letting us romp through endlessly or to a natural plot end, but it would suck if at some point we all move on to other projects and not have a conclusion.

message 43: by Jay (new)

Good point. Suggestions?

message 44: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments In the past I've wrapped each of the round robin stories at some point. I'm happy to let you romp and then do the same if necessary. Or you can have more of a plan, although with half of the month to go I think there might still be random joiners so I'd wait a bit.

message 45: by Jay (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Perhaps we should discuss among us some of the plot bunnies tossed out so far and where each of us would like to take them. However, I like the idea of knowing in advance who will wrap up the story. And, I'm fine with that person being you.

message 46: by Kaje (last edited Dec 15, 2014 07:03AM) (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments I'm reluctant to have too much of a plan - I'd love to see someone new just jump in and write a bit (which could still happen) and I don't want them to feel like they should have followed something plotted out. Lets let it grow organically a bit longer. The fun of these is really in the writing - if we end up with a good readable story that's great but I don't want to control it too much.

No problem. I hope Rez hops back in as she indicated she hoped to do.

message 48: by Rez (new)

Rez Delnava (rez_delnava) Sorry about the delay; Monday happened.

The free writing is a ton of fun and so far our plot is pretty solid, even if we have no clue where it's going. I'm content knowing that there is going to be a conclusion, even if we have to draw lots and have one of us shoehorn one in at the end of the month (or next month, or?)

And I'm male, B.t.w.

message 49: by Jay (new)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Rez wrote: And I'm male, B.t.w..."

I should have remembered that vital detail. (Turning pink, down to my toes.)

message 50: by Kaje (last edited Dec 15, 2014 08:46PM) (new)

Kaje Harper | 17377 comments We'll wrap it at the end of the month one way or another. I've gotten pretty good at pulling it back together, and you guys are doing great so far. Lots of time for more twists first.
