Elementary novel, set in pioneer days with a girl named California and her brothers named after other states, read in the late 60's.

I am an elementary library clerk and I have a teacher seeking a book that she read as a child that she wants to recommend to her students (2nd/3rd grade combo) and all she can remember is that it was set in the Pioneer days and there was a daughter named California and her brothers were named after other states (one possibly Nevada). She would have read this in the mid to late 1960's, but possibly early 70's.

Me, California Perkins seems likely. It was originally published in 1968 and the main character is named California and her brothers are Oregon and Washington.
