Paula Reyes Wagner (paurw) | 784 comments In Chile we have 746 cases confirmed yesterday, it's a 18million people country and our upward trajectory is similiar to Spain's and that's worrying, I hope the authorities declare a mandatory quarantine soom.

Here there are like a 100 new cases confirmed everyday, we believe there's plenty more infected, 2 people have died (confirmed by the authorities) but I have no trust in what they say, I've heard of more deaths already through friends.

I'm working from home since last monday, and we try to self isolate (it's a big house thank God) but my younger brother is going out everyday to see his girlfriend, there's no way to convince him to stay home. Our father is a high risk patient (HTN, diabetes, 16% of kidney function left, heart failure, and still standing and going out by himself), I have HTN myself, so we're a little scared.
Working from home isn't always easy (I'm the only one working, everyone else is like on vacation ), but I'm adjusting, I don't know how long this will last though.

I hope all of you stay well, and for those who work in health I wish you the best and I applaude you.

The hospital lab I work in is in NY. We have a lot of positive patients in house currently. I think NY/NJ/CT should have issued the shelter in place order much sooner. In my town (which is rural) people were flooding the parks and hanging out in large groups. The parks eventually were closed but c'mon people don't you have common sense? I hope all of your neighborhoods stay virus-free. The panic out there is no fun.

Allison Ann | 1245 comments I do have to add the last couple of books, which I am doing now, so this may change slightly, but...we have Paula and Rachel reading coloured covers for the regular monthly challenge. We also have two Wild cards to fill - one Reverse, Skip, 3 or 5 and the other 0, 2 or 7.

Then, we have Erica, Paula, Rachel, Denise and Allison reading books for the mini. We could also use a few options for the story, so we still need books there. Especially interesting titles.

So not completely done, but very close. :D

Erica A | 27 comments I live in S Florida... while the state hasn’t been shut down, each city is allowed to make their own decisions. The city I live in now has a 11pm curfew for all “non-essential” people. I have a letter that permits me out from my employer because our business has been considered essential. As an introvert, this quarantine has good points and bad but I just keep praying that this moves along fast. I hope you ladies are doing well

message 612: by Paula (new)

Paula Reyes Wagner (paurw) | 784 comments Finished Peter Pan, updated both ss

We practically finished our march hands, except for the colored cards that have been claimed already.
As for the mini, all tasks are claimed, the ones that haven't been completed are:

1. Read a boook with a drink on the cover - Erica
20. Read a book with a character who builds something - Denise
22. Read a book with glasses (for drinking) on the cover - Allison

How are you doing with those?

message 613: by Paula (new)

Paula Reyes Wagner (paurw) | 784 comments Also, for the story we have plenty of books:

1.To Tame A Scandalous Lady
2.The Nature Of the Beast
3.What A Scot Wants
4.Finding Love Under the Western Sun
5.Take A Chance On Me
6.The Third Rainbow Girl: The Long Life of a Double Murder in Appalachia
7.One Of Us Is Lying
8.The Passengers
9.Once Burned
10.City Of Girls
11.The Duke of Ruin
12.Improperly Enticed by the Rascal Earl
13.Wedded to the Highlanders
14Good Boy
15.Love And Linguistics
16.A Good Neighborhood

We have to use 15 for the story, so I ask the creative ones, to please start thinking of a story

From the rules:
Once you have everything you need to get ready, tell us a little story, why don't you?
A little anticipation on what you expect to encounter in your preparations, or your travels. Maybe a crazy mishap during your travels, maybe a totally wonderful yet incredibly unbelievable romance....

Use the titles of 15 books to tell us your memoirs. Be as creative as you like. You can use as much or as little of a title as you see fit.

I started reading one of a stack of Sweet Valley High books I picked up months ago Jealous Lies. If nothing else, they will provide us with some great titles for the story.

Allison Ann | 1245 comments Finished my claimed book and added it to the spreadsheets. So we have just 4 claimed books to be finished and we'll be done. I'm going to take a crack at writing a story because I love to write. Warning, it will probably be ridiculous, because that's my style. :D But please give it a try too if you want. I suspect mine is going to be a romance with a Scandalous Lady being Improperly Enticed by the Rascal Earl. :D

Allison Ann | 1245 comments How is everyone doing? I cleaned my closet this morning. My entire bed is covered with clothes to trash, repurpose or give away and yet my closet is still full. Just slightly less bulging at the seams. Oh well, I shall consider it a success anyway. :D

Paula, Rachel, Erica and Denise - how are your claimed books coming along? Will you be able to finish before month end?

I have three books lined up to finish on April 1st and I suspect I'll have a few more before then. I'm reading all different genres so I can keep them straight in my brain. This afternoon I shall try and finish up a first draft of our story, so you all can check it out.

I have absolutely no idea what day of the week it is, so I'll just say have a great --day everybody. Stay healthy.

Yes, my book will be done before the end of the month. It isn't as good as the first one, and that is probably why the author stopped writing the series. Thus, it is taking me longer.

message 629: by Allison Ann (last edited Mar 31, 2020 07:05AM) (new)

Allison Ann | 1245 comments Excellent Erica, thank you.

Okay, I have to clean up the pronouns and names and some dialogue designations, but here's the best I can do. Any ideas for a title?

Lady Arabella Araminta Anastasia Jones, a scandalous lady given to reading, mathematics, canoodling with burly stableboys and worst of all thinking for herself, turned to the third underbutler and tapped his arm with her fan. Dudley, she purred, “who exactly are those two deliciously delicate looking men over there?” She gestured with her fan in the direction of the enormous fireplace. Lady AAA’s living room was full of Londoners invited to The Dutch House, for a house party weekend. Later that evening, the acquaintances and distant relatives and people who had seen her circular posted in apothecaries would be treated to a fascinating sales pitch from Lady AAA. She just knew her idea for roadside carriage assistance would be a brilliant moneymaking opportunity.

The passengers from the city coach were milling around, chatting and drinking gin & tonics and fanning themselves with copies of the gossip rags that Arabella Araminta Anastasia subscribed to. Only the two previously mentioned gentlemen didn’t seem to feel the heat, huddling close together next to the unlit fireplace. “The gentleman on the right, in the puce waistcoat and satin shoes is Willie MacTavish, the Duke of Ruin and the gentleman on the left with the carefully tousled curls and the preponderance of beauty marks is Dick Smith, Earl of Loblolly”, answered Dudley. “I believe I’ve heard of Smith. Miss Fabricata claims she was improperly enticed by that rascal Earl. But Miss Fabricata also has a face like an old boot, so we know she must be a liar.” Lady AAA knew with the prevailing wisdom of the time that beautiful people were good and kind and truthful and that ugly people were evil and not to be trusted. She preened a little, knowing that her shining blonde hair, large blue eyes and statuesque figure meant that she was on the side of the angels. “But Ruin? I don’t think I’m familiar with that county.” “I’m fairly certain that is what the Scot wants” answered Dudley. “A Scot!” breathed Arabella Araminta Anastasia. “But this is a good neighbourhood.

Lady Jones stalked over to the fireplace to interrupt the clandestine meeting. “Gentlemen”, she cooed, “I am your hostess, Lady Arabella Araminta Anastasia Jones. So pleased to make your acquaintance. Can I interest either of you in some good roadside coach insurance?” The two noblemen exchanged glances and then Earl Dickie bowed over AAA’s hand while Duke Willie murmured something about his land being difficult to traverse by coach. “I understand you are far from home”, said the lady. “I have come to visit my lifelong friend the Duke of Ruin and to search for a bride. I hope to find love under the Western sun.” But we’re in Suffolk! she exclaimed “A figure of speech milady. I hoped some lovely lass would be willing to take a chance on me and wed to a Highlander.” “I myself am once burned and twice shy”, declared Lady AAA. “Tis the nature of the beast for men to be unfaithful and I have no intention of sacrificing myself on the altar of wedded bliss.” Are you certain milady? whispered Willie MacTavish into her shell-like ear, while Dickie Smith nibbled gently along her arm from wrist to shoulder. The whispering became more personal and private and Lady Arabella Aramita Anastasia’s colour grew heightened as she listened. “Oh good boy!” she moaned. “Jolly good boy!”

“No one will suspect” whispered Dick to Willie “if we share the wife between us.” The two led a bemused and shockingly silent Lady Arabella Araminta Anastasia to their waiting spaceship, the saliva of the alien Earl being a surprisingly good sedative. As the cargo doors slid closed behind them, their human masks slipped away. “We’ve a wedding cake to make Willie, and those madeleines you love so much” cried Dick as the ship lifted quietly above the trees and headed toward the moon.

Brooklyn - as much as I love Sebastian Bach, I don't think that is quite 50% red. Too much black and white. What does everyone else think?
