I'll have tissues at the ready, I'm a big crier.

I've got 5 are so Auschwitz related books at home which I want to read before I go, I'm not sure I'll be able to pick them up was I've been. We'll see.

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Depends. You might have a different outlook on the books once you've been there and can visualise stories a little differently. Might be worth leaving one or two for after the visit just to see how your own perspective might have changed.

Ravenclaw Library Books (ravenclawlibrarybooks) | 234 comments I am planning on reading Murder on the SS Rosa (Ginger Gold Mysteries #1) by Lee Strauss , Murder at Hartigan House (Ginger Gold Mysteries #2) by Lee Strauss , Murder at Bray Manor (Ginger Gold Mysteries #3) by Lee Strauss , Murder at Feathers & Flair (Ginger Gold Mysteries #4) by Lee Strauss , Murder at the Mortuary (Ginger Gold Mysteries #5) by Lee Strauss , Murder at Kensington Gardens (Ginger Gold Mysteries #6) by Lee Strauss . The Wedding of Ginger & Basil (Ginger Gold Mysteries #7.5) by Lee Strauss , Murder at St. George's Church (Ginger Gold Mysteries #7) by Lee Strauss and Murder Aboard the Flying Scotsman (Ginger Gold Mysteries #8) by Lee Strauss , Murder at the Boat Club (A Ginger Gold Mystery #9) by Lee Strauss , Murder on Eaton Square (A Ginger Gold Mystery, #10) by Lee Strauss , Murder by Plum Pudding (Ginger Gold Mysteries #11) by Lee Strauss and Murder on Fleet Street (Ginger Gold Mysteries #12) by Lee Strauss which is the complete Ginger Gold series.

Eldarwen | 5004 comments You've got big plans! :-)

message 155: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sherbear89) Wow! Good luck!

message 156: by Kate (new)

Kate (kcbond) | 248 comments Those are big plans!

message 157: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I think I'm also going to grab one of the 7 cards with Lean on Pete - the author's surname starts with V.

I'm making plans now, and I'm terrible at sticking to them, so I'm curious to see if I'll actually read all the books I've mentioned so far, but I think I might be able to stick to it this time haha.

message 158: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Good luck with the series! I struggle to read more than 2-3 of a series back to back without getting bored. Might explain why I have so many half read series around...

message 159: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I was about to start a book with a main character whose name begins with V yesterday evening. Quickly decided to leave it a couple of days!

message 160: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Cannot wait to start a new book, to be honest! But I really, really need to finish The Power before then. Since it looks like I'm never going to be able to finish both books, I at least want to have that one done ;-)

I'll just read a few pages of The Wind in the Willows here and there while Uno is on, and hopefully by the end of February, I'll finally be done with it.

message 161: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I'm reading a Karina Halle (Maverick) that should be done pretty quickly. The others I've got on the go are long term plans (War and Peace especially!)

message 162: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Yeah, her books are usually pretty quick reads, even the longer ones. (Though I haven't read all that many.) Are you enjoying the one you're reading?

War and Peace... I haven't even started that one yet :-(((
I'm still only half-way through Les Mis haha. But I really want to finish that one before I start on the next doorstop!

message 163: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments So far, so good. Nothing complicated to them which I need sometimes. This one is set in mountain search and rescue team which makes for an interesting plot round the romance.

I somehow managed to get Les Mis finished in October. Finding the audio of War and Peace on the way to work the only way I stand a chance of getting through this one. Definitely worth finishing one before starting the next! For everyone confused as to why we're reading the same classic doorstops, NBRC has a chunkster buddy read going on all year for them. Last year Les Mis, this year War and Peace.

message 164: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments A little bit more than a day to go before UNO finally starts!

As a reminder: Countdown

Books can only be started once this countdown has gone down to 0! Any books started (or marked as "currently-reading") before the countdown has reached 0 cannot be counted for the challenge.

Once you have finished your book, mark it as read here on Goodreads, add a read date and add it to your Uno-shelf.

Then, please post a completion post in this thread providing the following information:

◈ Bookcover
◈ Book
◈ Author
◈ Date Read
◈ (Optional) Rating
◈ (Optional) Word Count - for Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry books
All the UNO cards it works for (please provide full names of the characters, i.e. first and last name unless the information is unknown in the book)

Sorry it's taken a bit of time to respond! You haven't missed anything, we haven't got a planning sheet this time round ( or a books read thread). You should all have access to the main sheet so you can see what E and I have filled in. Please include as much info as you can from E's post above.

message 169: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments A little over an hour to go until we start! I should have stayed asleep another hour so I could start the day reading!

message 170: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments 20 minutes to go!!

I'll only start reading this afternoon as I have plans this morning but I cannot wait!!

(Of course, I have finished neither of the two books I wanted to read this week. Somehow reading time was short and the books were not speedy reads hehe. Oh well!)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Sophie wrote: "A little over an hour to go until we start! I should have stayed asleep another hour so I could start the day reading!"

That would definitely have been a nice start to the day!

message 172: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments And 5 minutes to go!!!

Which is also my cue for turning off the laptop and get going hehe.

Which book are you going to dive into first?

message 173: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Eck "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" will be my first book and "Sourcery" my first audio book <3

message 174: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaaate) | 78 comments Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening (Depending on where you are!)

I'm ready to go with my first read:
Flight Risk The Highs and Lows of Life as a Doctor at Heathrow Airport by Stephanie Green

I'm in work today, but plan on being sneaky and reading as much as I can, I finished The Boy Who Followed His Father into Auschwitz last night so I could be ready to go with the new book for the challenge! So excited to get going!

:)

message 177: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Raven - does it cover any of the other letters as well? E and I might end up shuffling things round towards the end of the month and the more letter options we've got the better!

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Wonderful thanks!

message 181: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Please do post proper completion posts though when you're done with a book and mark them clearly as such.

It helps the captains to easily spot them amongst chatter and book selection or discussion posts.

Thank you!!

message 182: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I decided to pick up The Sweetest Burn as my first book, just something fun that I'll probably get through quickly, even more so as I intend to spend the day reading tomorrow. Lazy Sunday :-)

message 190: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Well, it would help if you actually mentioned which cards they are - rather than just listing a few things.

And full names for the characters are preferable.

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Long post coming up!

1st thanks for a wonderful weekend of reading - we're off to a very good start.

I know it seems like we're making a big deal out of little details with the completion posts but by the end of the challenge we should have around 300 completion posts (if the mods don't add mini-challenges needing more books). For each of those E and I need to be able to quickly and easily see where they might fit on the cards and to double check that you have them marked as read and on your Uno shelf.

The quick things you can do to make this easy for us are:
1. completion post with tags where possible - if you are using the app please say!

2. Card number and full names where possible when saying how a book will work

3. Please only have books you have completed on your Uno shelf. I know it's tempting to have everything you have planned on there too but it makes it much harder for us to check things. If you want a planning shelf feel free, but name it something slightly different.

1. I'm using both the app and the website so there are somethings the app won't let me post.
2. If only first names are mentioned, do we just mention that?
3. I will update my shelf now.

message 194: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I know! I find the app a complete nuisance in that it won't let me tag books (or copy and paste and a multitude of other things).

If only first names are mentioned that's fine, a quick note would be fab so we know. I found the perks of being a wallflower tricky for challenges as his siblings were just referred to as brother and sister

message 195: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments And thank you for updating the shelf
