Eldarwen | 5004 comments And I'm assuming nobody else is going to come in with a last minute completion post.

Which means, we didn't quite finish for March, BUT we only had one, ONE SINGLE, card left to fill. (Since we got 5 Pixie books to replace lost players.)

And that is impressive!! Especially considering how things looked for a while there before the team rallied :-)

message 905: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Well done everyone! V impressive last few days.

Sharon, thanks for playing! We'll miss you. Sorry life is chaotic and you aren't able to carry on.

message 906: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Blackburn | 32 comments That’s amazing!!! Sadly I wasn’t able to finish another. I need to learn to read shorter books :p

message 907: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Kayla you aren't the only one! It's a trap I frequently fall into.

message 908: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Yeeep, same!

I consciously have to hunt for short books at the end of the month in order to get some extra books in haha.

Also, April has 16 hands!! So a few more books and more colour cards ;-)

message 909: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Also, sorry, work has been a little demanding this morning, so haven't typed up the story yet, but will on my lunch break now.

message 910: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Thanks for coming up with the story!

Going to make an effort to read shorter books all month to cover as many cards as I can

message 911: by Eldarwen (last edited Apr 01, 2020 04:59AM) (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Against all odds, Team Galactic Crème Brûlée managed to get almost all their material together in time for take-off for a perky space cruise. Whatever was missing was surely not going to make a world of difference, right?

Soon, they were off on their cruise to hunt down the mysterious Vine Witch, who was supposed to live on a planet far far away, surrounded by Children of Blood and Bone - whoever all these people were supposed to be. They would surely find out!

The closer the team got to their destination, the more excited they became!
Yet, what seemed like a fun adventure, even a game, to the team, did not bring the same feelings to those they were about to visit, after all they were a world, or more, apart.

"How dare you!!" someone shouted at them as soon as they stepped off their space ship and before they really knew what was happened, the team found themselves disarm-ed.

Clueless and suddenly feeling a little in over their heads, they blinked at the people surrounding them, who were all dressed like royals. When the latter realised they meant no harm (after a lot of discussion and ship inspection), everyone threw down their weapons, laughed heartily and asked the team to join them for a delicious meal - as their guests of honour.

message 912: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Thanks E! Less violent than I was expecting. Good job creating the story

message 913: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Tried to stay clear of all the murder and death we had in our titles haha ;-))

Thanks!

message 914: by Eldarwen (last edited Apr 12, 2020 08:34AM) (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments That was wonderful!

An evening without being glued to a screen or book to finish up before the deadline haha. I actually barely read anything at all yesterday to give myself a break.

Though now that I've started Chasing Cassandra, I'm pretty sure I won't let it rest all too long if I can help it hehe.

And now, let's get to business, shall we? ;-)

The colour cards we have for April are the following:

5 Blue - Eldarwen Drachenkralle 1: Die Klaue des Morero
1 Red - Eldarwen We Are Blood and Thunder
1 Red - Komal The Handmaid's Tale
5 Green

✔ 2 Yellow - Komal The Winter of the Witch
7 Green

and 3 Wild Draw 4 cards:
- 9 Blue - Sophie
✔ - Draw 2 in Hand Fifteen (5 Blue)
-

Any takers for the ones that have not yet been claimed?

message 915: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I need to check but I think I have a 5 Blue. Just need to verify that the mention of the villain is more than just a mention. I assume he has some stage time in the book, being the villain and all, but I'll have a look inside the book.

I also have something for 2 Yellow if nobody else does.

message 916: by Komal (new)

Komal (komalm) | 163 comments i am reading The Winter of the Witch (Winternight Trilogy, #3) by Katherine Arden

does this work for yellow?

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Komal wrote: "i am reading The Winter of the Witch (Winternight Trilogy, #3) by Katherine Arden

Hmm, it's yellow with a bit of a tinge, but maybe.. it certainly covers enough of the cover if we agree on the yellow.

Sophie??

message 918: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I'd say yes to yellow

message 919: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Perfect!

Any idea if it also works for the 4 Yellow, Komal? Or just the 2 Yellow?

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah

About to finish this. Think it's borderline for blue.

Doesn't work for 5 frustratingly. Would duplicate 0 or 8

message 921: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Hmm, that is borderline, yes. There seems to be a lot of purple/pink going on inside that blue. Though it's a nice colouring hehe.

Kayla Blackburn | 32 comments Well done on the story!!!! So clever 😊

after a month of shipping delays, I finally have a Nintendo Switch! I’ve had the Animal Crossing game for a week and haven’t been able to play it :p sooooo my reading might be a tad delayed haha. Audiobooks count 😉

message 924: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Thank you :)

Hahaha, have fun with it! Good thing there is such a thing as audiobooks ;-))

message 925: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Glad it's finally arrived! Audiobooks definitely count and can be a life saver sometimes.

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments A Year of Ravens A Novel of Boudica's Rebellion by Ruth Downie

This looks red to me and has a V character. It's looking less red in the thumbnail than it does in real life

message 927: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments If you're telling me that it's stronger in colour in real life, then that's good enough for me! :-)

message 928: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments And my blue book definitely gives screen time to the villain whose name begins with an I, so I can cover one of the 5 Blues.

message 929: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I can duplicate a Blue 9 for one of the wild 4 cards as well with books I've got available now. Not sure what else it'll work for

I'm currently trying to decide which book to read next and it is a little difficult! I want to read them all ;-)

Ravenclaw Library Books (ravenclawlibrarybooks) | 234 comments Hey guys I am currently slogging through The Other Wife by Claire McGowan though I am taking regularly breaks still not feeling completely well. It is okay so far just taking a while to get through.

message 936: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I've had a few books like that E! V frustrating when you realise the initials are either irrelevant or overlap.

Raven, hope you keep improving. Rubbish to feel unwell for so long.

I haven't managed much reading this weekend. Spent lots of time playing in the garden - amazed it was shorts and t-shirt weather

Does this go for 5 Blue ?

message 938: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Blackburn | 32 comments I’m glad the weather has been nice there as well! It’s been lovely here as well. I spent the weekend at work :/ off today though and hopefully getting lots of reading done in the sunroom. (Err I think you call it a conservatory if I remember correctly? I lived in England for a year during uni so remember some of the differences haha)

message 939: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments That would be a conservatory, yes, if I'm not completely mistaken now (Sophie should be able to correct us otherwise hehe).

I spent my afternoon getting and delivering groceries and now I'm settling back with the second half of my book and a nice glass of bubbly :-D

Sun's still shining and will hit my terrace soon and it's been 20-22°C here, so that's lovely.

Yes, it does!

Enjoy! I hear only good things about Maya Angelou though I've never read her myself.

message 941: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Well remembered Kayla! Sounds like a fantastic way of spending your day if it's worked out like that.

Similarly E, the end of your day sounds good. I'm sure everyone you delivered groceries is very grateful.

Work today has picked up a bit and getting a lot of complicated bits to deal with on the phone.

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Hellooooo!

How is everyone?

I've started a romance book that I've been recommended by a GR friend years ago but I never got round to reading it and I am quite happy with the writing style and story so far. It's on the larger side of books haha (almost 500 pages) but it's going well so should be done in a few days.

After that I'll dive into the other colour cover books that I've claimed. Not sure yet if I'll go for blue or red first.

message 945: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Hi!

Sorry I was so quiet yesterday (and the last few days), after a few days at work I ended up in A+E as a patient. All the tests have come back ok, so I'm now doing my best to relax at home and recover.

Glad you are enjoying it, E. It's interesting how recommended books can languish on the tbr shelf for so long.

Not sure what I'm going to pick up next at the moment. Will see what I've got on kindle and at the library.

message 948: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Yeah, it got worse and I felt like I'd run a marathon just climbing the stairs - which given I don't run is no good.

My husband has been v good and took him out for a walk this morning so that I could rest and he could get tired out a bit. Have spent time sitting in the garden watching him run round as well.
