ARCHIVE Team Challenge: UNO 2020
>
Team Interplanetary Biscotti
I'm also working on two books that will be done by tomorrow or Friday - sounds like we don't need them, but just in case. Great job everyone!!
reposting since we're on a new page and messages easily get missed this way 🙈"To recap for the mini challenge (please let us know if you can't finish):
airtight is being covered by Jen
24 by Ambi
✅ 270 by Lau
Our last colour card (7 Blue) is still being read by me - it actually took me all month to read this book, yes. Will definitely finish it by Saturday though :)
which leaves us with one more book 'needed' for our Feb cards, and according to Lau's and Ashley's posts they will be finishing more books soon, so the last one will be covered as well.
If everybody else wants to hold out on finishing books until March that's fine ;)"
Also, we got our cards for March earlier today! These are all the colour cards we got:
📒 1 Yellow
📒 3 Yellow
📒 5 Yellow
📒 6 Yellow
📗 5 Green
📗 6 Green
📘 8 Blue
📕 1 Red
📕 2 Red
+ five Wild Draw 4's (duplicating coloured cards)
I've already gone ahead and claimed 2 Red with
as thanks to a Draw 2 it will also cover a Reverse which we have 11 of in March.Again, please let us know if you can/will cover any of the colour cards and I will keep this post at the beginning of our thread updated.

As long as we agree that
counts as blue, it will work for Blue 8 with character Emira. It is the only book I can commit to in March until I get my Book Tac Toe card in my reading group on March 1. I'll use it as my free space if needed. I'll definitely be able to pick up a few other colored cards and probably some reverses too. I think all but 2 of the books I read this month would have worked for reverse!

have you ever read the first book of a series and it left you kinda meh, but at the same time you want to know how the story continues??? because that's exactly how I'm feeling right now and it's- annoying.

I hate that. Either decide to keep reading, or decide not to and find some book summaries online.

Good job everyone! The mini challenge is officially done, we only need one more book for our February cards :D
SandyL wrote: "I can read

We need one last one, but both Sandy and I think Ashley are still finishing books this month. So no need to hurry through another book, Jen. I already started listening to an audiobook for March :)

No worries, I was just wanting to go back and finish a book I had started back in January and hadn't had time to finish yet. I was hoping to finish it before we start the next month. Which it looks like I will have the time for now. :)
So, I hope everyone is still healthy and not infected with the corona Virus. My roommates mother works at a hospital where they just found out a patient (he has been there for 10 days already) has the virus. So his mother might have it, and my roommate too xD lucky me
I'm about half way through the Dear Evan Hansen book (which is really good so far btw) so should I hold off on finishing it until March begins?
hum no cases here yet but untill the end of UNO it's probable that some of us will get it. I'm not looking forward for my toddler to get it :(
Honestly, the media is just going crazy about the Corona virus. It's not more dangerous than the influenza virus. The only people who are really at risk for getting hit hard IF they actually get corona are old people and people who suffer from other diseases already - people who are immunocompromised. And if you have the symptoms and go to a hospital you will get better fairly quickly.
Thanks Christina for articulating this so amazingly. My teacher told me this same exact thing today and I wanted to reassure my friends, who are literally going crazy. I just copied this post and sent it to them. Hopefully, they are gonna keep their cool after they read it.
BTW - I thought I would be done with at least one of my books by today, but work has been busier than I planned. I will be done with at least one by tomorrow if we still need it, and the other by Saturday.
Book: The Murder on the Links
Author: Agatha Christie
Finished: 2/27/20
Uno cards:
2 - Second book in series
3 - Character: Hercule Poirot
4 - Set in France
6 - Character: Gabriel Stonor
8 - Character Eloise Renauld
Skip - Character: Hercule Poirot
Reverse - Lau and Ambi have read this book
Just to clarify that I am understanding correctly, if I start a book tomorrow and finish it on March 1, it will count for a March card? We don't have to start the book in March as long as we finish it in March?
@Christina I think media in Austria is actually quite good about it, compared to other countries. I live right in the middle of Vienna though, and this virus spreads fast, so there's a 50% chance I'll get fever in the next few weeks x)But we also started eating a lot of garlic soup, so who knows, maybe that's the secret to avoiding it :p

with this book we officially finished our February cards. Good job everyone!

A friend of mine posted in her ig story two days ago that they'll go buy stuff ahead today just so they'll have it at home already because 'in two weeks time we won't even be allowed to leave the house anymore'. I wonder where she got that sh*t from... It's definitely not common sense.

I have to follow it though as I work in schools, and that's just one of the places where it can spread quickly. Same with university.
To clarify again: books started when the challenge started, can be used for our March cards if you finish it on March 1st or later (to be exact it's still 1 day 17hours and 24minutes)
I think some of that quarantine style stuff is/was actually happening in China according to a friend of mine. I’m not paying too much attention to any of it, but she owns a boutique and orders from vendors who get their products from China and lots of things were apparently delayed because people in China weren’t allowed to go to work? I don’t know. Also, students at a local university here (one showing symptoms and his roommate) were not allowed to leave their apartment until testing results came back. I think these situations are rare, but in some circumstances someone may not be able to leave the house. Overall, I agree that the thought is ridiculous through. Even if you are not able to leave your house, someone would be able to bring you some food or other items you need.
My best friend lives in Beijing, she was telling me about the quarantines that were happening. She said for a few days EVERYTHING was shut down, but obviously that's not really sustainable, so some people obviously went back to work. But for the most part if you can work from home it is suggested that you do so. The major issue that might be is that this happened to pop up during the Chinese New Year, now I'm not sure what you know about China and this celebration, but people tend to go back to their hometowns to celebrate, and now just a few people, cities legitimately empty out during the holiday. So many of those people are now stuck in their hometowns and the quarantined cities. But they can only stop people from travelling and returning back to the cities for so long. So it will be interesting to see what happens there.I definitely feel like the media is notoriously unreliable, so only a small portion of what is actually reported is actually true or accurate.
But either way hopefully they get this sorted out, because talks have actually come up about cancelling the Olympics that is in Tokyo this year.
I think I can read
for blue 8, it would fit right?I haven't had time to sit on my computer the last few days to calmly check

I *think* it's blue?! Team?
I have no clue on that one. My first thought was “That’s blue?” I would lean more toward green on this one... but I really struggle with the blue/green like you, Christina.
I own this book, it looks like a sky blue, but when you look at it for too long it kinda looks like a mox of green/blue x)

Daniela wrote: "Is anyone doing the popsugar challenge by chance?"I am casually doing the popsugar challenge at this point. Basically, I'm reading whatever at this point and just seeing where it fits. Then later in the year I'll try to focus more on the prompts I haven't filled yet. I am in a couple of Facebook groups but not the Goodreads group.
