It absolutely is! Thank you. I've literally been trying to find this book for years!
I'm looking for a book i read in the mid 90s to early 00s about a man who was turned into a beast via alchemy. He is searching for a cure. One of the main things that I remember about it is that he ends up with a girl as an assistant of sorts who uses items of his clothing to get his horse used to his smell as it gets freaked out when the man/beast is around because his scent changed.
-it might be a beauty and the beast retelling
- it might have sylphs or slyphs in the story but its been so long i'm not sure but i seem to remember something about elementals
- the man/beast might be a nobleman
- vague recollection of roses being associated with the story
