So what ya reading? Remember, links to books are good, but the links to covers play hell on mobile devices.

I'm working on the Gone Girl audiobook, which I started yesterday. Very interesting/compelling so far.The other day I knocked out Skin Deep, the second Legion book by Brandon Sanderson. I'm impressed with his foray into urban fantasy.
Also still working on A Betrayal in Winter, which I'm loving, and Willful Child, which annoys me for the most part.

Nice reads this month!
REading? What is this "reading?" I've barely done any.Currently trying to read Master of Crows. I'm going to pick up Dust (FoF read) and Ret. Falls later.
I'm working on The Broken Eye, which as it turns out is not the final book in the Lightbringer series. Which is a little annoying, seeing as though I just re-read books 1 and 2 so I could finish the series with a bang... But oh well. It's a great series, I'm glad there will be more.I'm also working on Hexed via audio. Pretty entertaining.
I thought of getting those Hounded books on audio. How's the reader?I listened to Dust a couple of weeks ago, btw.
I like the reader a lot, except for his voice for Oberon (spelling? I've never seen it written out since I've been doing all audio for the series). He does get accents and isn't too over the top... Except for his voice for Oberon. I want to slap him for what he does with his voice for Oberon. But that said... There's enough good with everything else that I can let that go and enjoy the audio.
I'm currently reading Pinocchio, Vampire Slayer Complete Edition. It's played a bit straighter than I expected, though there are definitely some funny bits. It's a GN, so it's moving at a good clip.
Hmm, I'll keep it in mind. I've been looking for a good UF series to audio since finishing Dresden. I had looked at that one along with the Simon Green series.
I'm reading The Untimely Deaths of Daryl Handy
which I nabbed as a freebie during Halloween. Pretty interesting read. I was confused at first but when I caught on I find myself enjoying it. Who could resist a good story about your doppleganger trying to murder you?

I have quite a few books going on my list, but it's because I'm stalled on some of them and haven't given them up yet.We the Drowned- started last night for a group read. So far, it's pretty good.
What We See When We Read- got this through BookRiot's Quarterly Box. It's okay, but it's more of a personal essay. I was expecting more scientific study.
Heart-Shaped Box- stalled on this one. Found exciting, but then I hit a wall.
Philomena A Mother Her Son and a Fifty-Year Search- started this one for a bookclub and stalled out. It just got boring and I hated that the book spoiled itself right in the middle.
The Poisonwood Bible- another stalled bookclub book.

Jackie wrote: "I agree. I listened to a few of Iron Druid on audio. It was fine until he did Oberon's voice. He sounded like a cracked out Scooby Doo."*Scooby voice* French Poodles?!?!?
Whats wrong with Willful Child, Chris? Been looking at it recently but not going to read if its annoying.
Ala wrote: "Whats wrong with Willful Child, Chris? Been looking at it recently but not going to read if its annoying."It's very different from other Erikson. Except that it drags on for a couple hundred pages more than it should. It's like a parody of Star Trek, and while some of the stuff has me chuckling, most of the jokes are getting old.
Douglas Adams he is not.
Colleen, the only thing that scared me off of Nightside is the length of the series. I actually considered it a few weeks back. But I'm trying to trim down my serieses, not bloat them further LOL.
I getcha.In Nightside's favor, though: 1) The books are short and quick 2) it's a completed series.
It's not going to an absurd number like, say, 23 or something.
I just finished reading Master of Crows and I really loved it. It's a "fantasy romance" that was a lot more fantasy than romance. I wasn't quite expecting what I got and I enjoyed everything about it. :)
Just read Falling Sky and would give it a 3.5 out of 5. A bit of a new take on zombies. But, while the book leaves off on what I feel is an obvious (and suspenseful) cliffhanger, it isn't listed as book 1 in a series. Its as if the publisher is hedging its bets? I feel like I've been rooked somehow. You get hooked by an interesting world and premise, then don't know if there will ever be a payoff!

I KNOW!!!If I had realized that before I had picked the book up, I may not have read it!
I felt like watching Star Trek 2 just to hear Shatner scream out "KHAN!"
(I'm such a nerd). Off to try out Shadowboxer...

Speaking of nerding out...
There's this Wu Tang song that has a clip from Star Trek in it. I can't remember the movie name but I seem to recall the scene where the clip comes from. OMG. It drives me INSANE that I can't remember what movie/episode it comes from.

Mrs J,I tried looking for the video, but could only find their newest one "A Better Tomorrow". I'm a bit teary right now after watching it. I'll look again a bit later. After reading about Wu Tang, how they like nerd culture and from watching their recent video, they seem like pretty cool people to me.
I'll find out which clip for you soon!

:-)
Yeah, Wu Tang is a strange group.
IDK if the clip is in a video or if its just the audio in the song - it's an old song.
I remember it said something like:
"I couldn't help but to notice your pain.
My pain?
It runs deep. Share it with me!"
And I seem to recall it was from a part where there was this religious guru who was able to do something/control to people by "sharing" (emotional) pain. But by the end - IIRC - the guru was became a good guy and saved everyone with his pain sharing

Video games? You? lol
I got you Nicki!!! *gentle Polar Bear Hug*I haven't been gaming, but I've been marathoning Tabletop videos on YouTube, wishing I had friends who were into that sort of thing. Maybe I need to get back into consoles. Hmm...
Which books did you toss? I hope you're feeling better.
Diana Gabaldon is one odd duck! I read the first book and thought exactly what you did "bizarre combination of really good and really bad". Won't be continuing that one.
I finished Betrayal in Winter, Gone Girl, and Willful Child. I'm definitely an Abraham fan now, and I started Dark Places. I'm past halfway already. Then tonight I started The Free, which is pretty good in the early going.
Sinistmer wrote: "Sweet! You will have to tell me what you think. I read awhile back, but haven't had anyone to discuss it with."I liked it, overall. Gave it 3.5 bumped to 4. Pacing was better than the last book, and I found the end satisfying - if a touch unrealistic. I'll write a full review in a few days, but not sure what all I'll have to say aside from that.
Started Malcolm at Midnight by W.H. Beck this morning. It's cute so far.I want to start 'Clariel', but I'm also kinda scared. I've been waiting for this book for so long, it's almost bound to disappoint...
I am gonna start Dust tonight. I have been wanting to read it ever since reading another of Bear's books, All the Windwracked Stars, and loving how she writes.I picked up Fated, remembering about Mike's rec, too!
I just completed, in a single sitting, the fun, autobiographical, realistic (fiction ?), Middle Grade graphic novel -
Smile by Raina Telgemeier. I really enjoyed it, which is only odd because its such a simple "normal" book. I'd jump right into the sequel Sisters
, if it were not for the fact that I have to be up in 4 hours. Hopefully my daughter won't mind my taking it to work with me tomorrow.

Smile Nyssa,
I loved both of those books! Her story Raina Telgemeier
is also amazing!

Just received that one from Amazon today! :)
Basically my daughter borrowed a copy of Smile from a friend, read it, loved it, saw Sisters at the school book fair, asked for it (but had to wait for a new order to come in), got it and read it before she even got home with it (lol),and a friend told her about Drama when she saw her reading Sisters. So I ordered both Smile (so we could have our own copy) and Drama. Not sure why they shipped separately, but Smile came yesterday and Drama came today.
I gave a friend's daughter Smile and she read it in about the same amount of time. It was at a dinner party at her aunt's house, and she had it read before they left that night!
