Non-fiction book with different adventure stories most likely written by a reporter or photographer?

I'm trying to find a book I read a while ago which had interesting stories by a reporter or photojournalist. One was about traveling to a salt mine by way of camel in the middle of the desert where outsiders where never allowed to go to document the harsh working conditions.

Another story which I think was in the same book (but might be another non-fiction book I read around the same time) was the story of a New Jersey teenager who gamed the stock market using message boards and made a bunch of cash. The government tried to then charge him with insider trading.
