It might be a stupid question, but Michael please can you define what you mean by 'another dimension'? Does this include purely travelling in time?

I think just about everyone in this book has a horse.
Question for next month--
This has been debated a bit on the BOTM thread, but I see nothing conclusive from Mpauli himself.
If the combined edition isn't available, will reading Raymond E. Feist's Magician Masterand Magician: Apprentice, Volume 1 count for the Energy Cell? I don't see the combined edition available at my library, and I already have those two individual books.

I would say yes, because the two books are the same as the combined edition, but I guess we should wait for the Challenge Master to confirm ;)
Robin 3. Nightwing- Read a book with a winged creature/person on the cover or with a coming of age plot. Hild The Main Character goes from a very young girl to a married woman throughout the book, from a near-toddler to a king's counselor. I'd say that covers it. 1/3 for Robin
A Dirty Job/Marvel/Deadpool/A Merc with a Mouth/3 of 3 Annoyingly funny main (and overall book) Deadpool Recruited!
This week, Shawnie's recruitment of Deadpool was the only recruitment/beating that happened and Marvel almost exclusively took all the points.
Both teams acquired 2 Energy Cells, so we're only 1-3 weeks away from our first portals opening.

In other news, Bane was introduced to be the villain of the month. You can check his challenges out in the villain post, the separate villain thread or right here, down below:

Read a book with "Vengeance" or "Bane" in the title or where a character is on a trip of revenge.
2. Backbreaker
Read a book with a disabled person on the cover (missing limbs, eye-patch, wheelchair, etc.) or where one of the main protagonists has a disability.
3. Wearing a Mask

In this case I'm talking about a parallel universe, so I wouldn't count time-travel. Technically we see time as a dimension, but that wasn't the intention of the challenge. :)

Sorry for not responding earlier, I mostly check on threads on GR on the weekends.
Of course it counts, when you read the split-up version of the book. It's the story that counts, not the format it was delivered in.
So, to be perfectly clear: If you've read both books, this will qualify for 1 Energy Cell and not one Energy Cell each.

Aquaman/ The Life and Death of St Kilda / 3. Talks with Fishes
Read a book with a fish/sea creature on the cover or where the sea/ocean (no rivers) is a setting (ship journeys count).
2/3

Bullseye/ To Kill a Mockingbird / 2. Thunderbolts
Read a book with the words "thunder" and or "bolt" in the title or where a villain turns into a hero./ Boo Radley begins as a villain but the contrary is shown to be true.
1/3
1. The Cat
Read a book with a cat on the cover or where a cat is a character itself or the pet of the main protagonist. The Grand Finale 2/3 Catwoman

Team DC:
The Name of This Book Is Secret/ Superman/Kryptonite/2 of 3
A Court of Thorns and Roses/ Batman/ Bat Cave/ 1 of 3
Disclaimer/ Bullseye/Dark Avenger/ 1 of 3
Uprooted/ Green Lantern/ Guardians of Oa/3 of 3
Green Lantern Recruited!!!

An Ember in the Ashes/ Huntress/ Helena Bertinelli/ 3 of 3
Huntress Recruited!!!

Marvel/Fahrenheit 451/Energy Cell
I believe that's 50 energy cells! Team Marvel would like Bigby Wolf for our portal hero.

Question for Michael: Since we picked Bigby Wolf as our portal hero on July 1, the books we pick for Bigby need to be started and finished after July 1, similar to how our villains work? Would a book started in June count? Thanks!
1. Vengeance of Bane
Read a book with "Vengeance" or "Bane" in the title or where a character is on a trip of revenge. Stone Cold One of the main characters spends much of the book hunting down and killing men he holds responsible for his father's death. 1/3 for Bane

This week had a small victory for Team DC. For them Christina recruited Huntress and Green Lantern, while Lantern was also recruited by Roger.
For Team Marvel Soila recruited Human Torch and Sam recruited Invisible Woman. Congratz to Shawnie as well who completed her roster with recruiting Daredevil.
Team DC acquired 2 Energy Cells, while Team Marvel got 3 and managed to open the first portal. It led to the Fables universe and Bigby Wolf can now be recruited by Marvel players.
As Beast now has a better understanding of the process of opening portals, the second portal will only require 30 Energy Cells. Of course this will also be the case, when Team DC manages to open the portal.
I think with going for 30 for the second and then maybe 20 or 15 for the final portal we'll have a chance to open at least two portals for each team, maybe even 3.

The portal heroes work like normal heroes for your roster. You have the rest of the year to recruit them, so there is no hurry.
The only restriction would be that the books have to be finished after July 1st (I'm fine with them being started in June already), cause it wouldn't be that exciting, if you could just take 3 books that you already read in the first 6 months and haven't used yet.
It's specifically designed to give something to do for players like you, who have already completed a roster and like to do something more besides the villain and the BotM for the rest of the year. :)

And for the people using cell phones and tablets, here are Bigby Wolf's challenges again, so you don't have to scroll towards the top to find him:
Bigby Wolf

1. Big Bad Wolf
Read a book with a wolf on the cover or where the characters encounter wolves/werewolves.
2. Fabletown
Read a book with a fairy on the cover or which is a fairy tale/fairy tale retelling.
3. Chain Smoker
Read a book with a cigarette/cigar/pipe on cover or where the main protagonist is a smoker.
