Does anyone happen to know of any Christmas books that would also fit into the 'Gothic' genre? I may have accidentally painted myself into a corner with the 'Genre Match' challenge.
(cross posting)

Megan Hamsher | 8 comments I am trying to find a book that involves an aquarium.
None of my fave places/searches have come up with any,
and none of my book pals have turned up anything.
So ... anybody over here have any suggestions?

If we're talking about a public space rather than an at-home aquarium, there are several children's books that might fit. This one looks fun (I remember hearing about Inky's shenanigans a few years back).
Inky's Amazing Escape: How a Very Smart Octopus Found His Way Home Inky's Amazing Escape How a Very Smart Octopus Found His Way Home by Sy Montgomery {GM children's}

Sherri | 260 comments I am looking for recommendations with a cat on the cover. I have a Christmas read and some cozy mysteries on my TBR, but looking for other ideas that are out there. Thanks!

Katrina Lybbert | 886 comments I am looking for suggestions of Christian Fiction set in South America and/or Asia?

message 458: by Kate, Challenge Fun Distributor (new)

Kate (liahonagirl) | 3531 comments Mod
I don't know if you like Biblical fiction, but that is predominantly set in what we now know as western Asia.
As far as South America, both Children of the Stars Children of the Stars by Mario Escobar , and No Place to Hide No Place to Hide (Love Inspired Suspense) by Lisa Harris are set at least partially in South America (Argentina, and Brazil, respectively).

message 459: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 623 comments Kimberly Duffy has a series set in India starting with A Mosaic of Wings (Dreams of India) by Kimberly Duffy .

message 460: by Katrina (new)

Katrina Lybbert | 886 comments Thanks for the suggestions, Kate and Michelle. Good reminder about Biblical fiction... that's right it is part of Asia. Perfect!

I second God's Handmaiden! I loved that one.

Certain Biblical fiction books are set in Africa (Egypt, etc.) as well.

what kind of genre are you looking for to meet those criteria, Maria? 🙂

Crystal | 743 comments Maria wrote: "Would love suggestions on books with something on the cover related to rain (a rain cloud, an umbrella, rain boots, etc)"

A few other suggestions:
Jerusalem's Rain A Novel by D.S. Lliteras Wrapped in Rain by Charles Martin Surviving the Storm (The McGuire Brothers #1) by Heather Woodhaven

If you're willing to dive into series to get to it, Terri Blackstocks Southern Storm series is excellent, and the second book, Southern Storm (Cape Refuge, #2) by Terri Blackstock is worth getting to!

I'm reading her Moonlighter series and am on the first book (very good), because Distortion (Moonlighters, #2) by Terri Blackstock is the book I'll use for this challenge.

my genre for April is 'travel', and while I have one selected, it publishes in April, and I don't know if my library will get an ebook copy in time for me to read it, so I'd love a few alternate ideas if anyone has any 🙂

message 482: by MissyTexas (new)

MissyTexas | 248 comments So I normally have many options for a challenge, especially when I selected the genre match. But, I am in a mood only for Amish books, especially enjoying a series in middle of reading.

Genre match is ‘multiple generations of women’s fiction’.

The idea is at least grandma, mother, daughter or three generations. Sisters to each of these generations in place is ok too. Such as aunt vs the mother.

The Amish series I am reading is heavy around two generations, mother and daughter. There are older aunts that occasionally make an appearance from the in-laws.

Ok, question… thoughts on other Amish books with clearer inclusion of 3 generations of woman? Looking for rich history of woman in family interacting.

Thanks Michelle. I did find The House of Long Ago (Cassiopeia Vitt, #4) by Steve Berry . It's not Christian Fiction, but the reviews I've seen look pretty clean. I know I can get it through my library. But I'll look up the one you mentioned also.

Lynn Austin writes multi-generational also, but it's not Amish fiction.

Have you checked out some of Beverly Lewis's books? I can't remember if I've read one that was multigenerational, but that's where I would start a search.

message 488: by MissyTexas (new)

MissyTexas | 248 comments Oooo, book 5 is going to have multi generations. Wilma (grandma), Nora (mom), and Millie (granddaughter). Though Millie doesn’t know it yet. Harvest of Blessings (Seasons of the Heart #5) by Charlotte Hubbard

I'm on that prompt right now too with the library game. I'm going to go for a GM mid-grade, but if I wasn't planning on saving it for October's 'spooky season' challenge, I would go for The Curious Inheritance of Blakely House The Curious Inheritance of Blakely House by Joanna Davidson Politano

Do the letters have to be in order?

If not, I found these in my TBR:
Finding Love in Big Sky, Montana (Resort to Love, #2) by Angela Ruth Strong
Alias Raven Black (Second Chances, #2) by Barbara Ellen Brink
The Broken Trail (Sweet River Redemption, #1) by Christa MacDonald
Broken Heart Strings (Imagination #4) by Staci Stallings

Looking for Leroy by Melody Carlson The Christmas Joy Ride by Melody Carlson are a couple others.

The Sea Glass Sisters (Carolina Heirlooms, #0.5) by Lisa Wingate is a great novella and is part of the Carolina Heirloom series, but is a stand alone. If I recall correctly, it doesn't have any threads that tie it into any of the other books in the series.
