Sara wrote: "Two more great stories, Connie."I enjoyed them both. My Goodreads friends' reviews have directed me to lots of interesting short stories this year.
I started adding them a few years back and really enjoy the variety, also a good way to sample an author and see how you like his style.
I often print up a short story to throw in my purse when I have to bring elderly relatives to the doctor's office. I don't want to lose a library book or an e-reader when I'm trying to get them in and out of the car, and deal with their paperwork.
Great idea, Connie. I generally put a paperback in my purse and read if there is any down time at the doctor's office. I have never lost one, but I can see the potential.
Adding some wonderful ghost stories by Edith Wharton:The Lady's Maid's Bell
The Eyes
Afterward
Kerfol
The Triumph of Night
Miss Mary Pask
Bewitched
Mr. Jones
Pomegranate Seed
The Looking Glass
All Souls'

I like this idea. I have no purse and many times the paperback is to big for a pocket.

Adding How Beautiful With Shoes by Wilbur Daniel Steele (an excellent story that can be found online)
Bob wrote: "And I thought I had read a lot of short stories this year, nice going."Thanks, Bob. You have read a lot of short stories. I'll have to check out your list to get ideas for next year.
Connie you and Bob have BOTH read an large number of short stories. I am very impressed with your multiple completions.
Connie, I popped over and read the Walton story. Short and sweet, but I wondered if you had ever read "The Husband of Mary" by Elizabeth Dillingham Hart. It can be downloaded here: https://hyryxyfumivatoxi.inspirationd...
I think you would find it a remarkable take on the same subject.

Like you I have read a bunch of short stories this year and The Star is one of the standouts.

A very nice selection Connie! I just discovered Saki and am really enjoying it! Edith Wharton is a go to for me too and Ted Chiang, wow... how did you like those?
Jessica, the Wharton ghost stories were excellent. I don't read much SciFi, but I enjoyed Ted Chiang, and I found myself thinking about his stories later.
That hits 100 short stories for the year. This was the year of the short story for me since it was harder to concentrate on long works with all the craziness of 2020.
