I finished Music from Another World by Robin Talley about an hour ago and gave it four stars. Now I’m reading We Had No Rules by Corinne Manning.
I am reading
Homecoming: Voices of the Windrush Generation it is a collection of anecdotes from people who immigrated to Britian from the Carribean colonies.
Lee Child's The Sentinel. Having gluttonously consumed the previous twenty-four Jack Reacher novels and various short stories, they're like snacks I can't get enough of. A character free to wander, with a moral compass, and compassionate strength of conviction. Feed me more!
Broken by Kelley Armstrong. It's the third book from the POV of Elena Michaels. This time, a Jack the Ripper memento has unleashed plague and pestilence upon Toronto. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3671201457
Finished and enjoyed The Year of Living Danishly: My Twelve Months Unearthing the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country
My Review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/3663559939
I just finished Life After Death. I am not sure how to describe this one. It meanders and does not do a great job of explaining who the author is and why he is famous. It is also one of the true riveting reads I have done in many a moon.
I finally read the disturbing, macabre, sometimes hilariously slapstick historical fiction that is Booker-winning Aussie author Richard Flanagan's celebrated Gould's Book of Fish: A Novel in Twelve Fish. What an important, unique talent this man is!

Just finished The offshore Pirate by F. Scott Fitzgerald. A fun little novela. Now I'm listening to Wendy Darling by Colleen Oakes
The Lost Soul Atlas by Zana Fraillon is a fantastical book for young readers, but it's just as entertaining for grown-ups. Life or afterlife or somewhere in between? Twiggy tries to find himself and his Da.

I finished
Doughnut Economics: Seven Ways to Think Like a 21st-Century Economist by Kate Raworth. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3658935580

A double doughnut day for a state is one with zero deaths from Covid 19 and zero cases of community transmission! (They don't count the people from overseas in hotel quarantine.) 00
It gives a whole new meaning to doughnut economics, eh? :)
What mother in her right mind enlists the help of her fourteen-year-old daughter so she can have an affair with her husband's best friend? Adrienne Brodeur had just such a mother, and she tells all in her autobiography, Wild Game: My Mother, Her Lover, and Me. It's all true and quite a read!

I just finished Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory. It was pretty entertaining but kind of hit or miss. You might have to get through some eh stories to get to the really funny ones. Other than that I loved the style of his writing. I also finished The Defining Decade, which talked about how to make the most of your 20s and why they matter. It had some good points and gave me a good perspective on life based on psychological principles.
Finished and enjoyed All Who Go Do Not Return

I am still on a stephen king kick. The Institute I love the way he writes children. It reminds me of how my friends and i were.
Currently reading the Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen. Not sure if it’s what I expected but is quite interesting so far

Ian McGuire's highly acclaimed novel, The North Water, is the brutal story of a nineteenth-century whaling expedition that goes terrifyingly wrong. It is also brilliant!

I finished a short romantic suspense novella that is a prequel to a series. My 2.5 star review rounded up to 3 stars: On His Watch
by Katie Ruggle.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I'd love to have these calorie-free double doughnuts here. My county just tightened restrictions again. They're bracing themselves for fallout from Thanksgiving holiday travel.
I finished two in the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong -
No Humans InvolvedMy review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3680864726

by Kevin Hearne.My 3 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I was looking forward to reading this children's edition of The Nutcracker by words&pictures during the Christmas season, but I was disappointed. Colourful but confusing (to me).

I absolutely love What Can You Do With a Line?, that makes my fingers itchy to try drawing! It would be a great Christmas (or other) gift, along with some pencils. Perfect pressie!

I am finally onto City of Girls and it is amazing. I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for an empowering feminist read. It's not the "in your face" feminism rather a story of a strong female lead during in the 1940's.
Christine wrote: "I finished my 118th book"Amazing Christine! 36 (which is what I am at this year) is the most I have read in a year. It's the first year I have been out of school and working full time. I aspire to read 50!
I looked into Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld anthologies. The majority of the short stories & novels I read preceded Bitten, the beginning of the series. And in hindsight, it would be good, but not necessary, to read many of these stories before starting Bitten.

In a Holidaze by Christina LaurenMy review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3693095107
The White Devil's Daughters: The Fight Against Slavery in San Francisco's Chinatown by Julia Flynn SilerThis book covered an awful part of American history, but I'm quite pleased that it's been revealed. It's not just about Chinese- Americans but about women's slow crawl toward empowerment.

I've just finished Amy Stewart's delightful Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit, the third in this wonderful historical fiction mystery series, based on a real lady cop. New Jersey in 1916. I'm sure glad she won't quit!

I finished a short story/novellette prequel to the Tracy Crosswhite police procedural/crime thriller series: The Academy
by Robert Dugoni.My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Richard Russo's characters always seem like people I'd recognise. In Chances Are, three guys and the girl they all (secretly?) adored were in college together during the draft for Vietnam. The guys are now 66, having a reunion, but where's Jacy?
4.5★ Link to my Chances Are review
Just finished reading Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. It was a pleasurable read. Now onto Where the Crawdads Sing which I'm looking forward as I've heard wonderful reviews about this book.
I finished
Vigil: Hong Kong on the Brink by Jeffrey Wasserstrom - explaining the broader context for all of the violent protests. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3692312325
