I finished More than Neighbors by Shannon Stacey, Blackberry Bay #1, and it delivered all the warm fuzzies! Here’s my review.

I finished listening to Two Girls Down by Louisa Luna, Alice Vega #1, and was happily surprised by the strength of the story and writing. Here’s my review.

I finished Secrets Hidden in the Glass by Cate Beauman, Carter Island #1, and while it was long (600 pages), I fell in love with the series. Here’s my review.

I finished Aftermath of Secrets by Cate Beauman, Carter Island #2, and loved this one, too, which was much shorter. Here’s my review.

I’m reading No One Saw by Beverly Long, A. L. McKittridge #2, and listening to A Dark and Stormy Knight by Kerrigan Byrne, Victorian Rebels #7 (almost finished).

Nelson's Brand (Man of the Month #25) by Diana Palmer Nelson's Brand by Diana Palmer in paperback
I usually like this authors books, but this was boring, boring, boring!! It literally had no plot what so ever. Gene Nelson discovers the man he always thought was his father isn't. A letter is left after his death disclosing the truth. Gene flips out and goes on a self destruction rampage of booze, women, fighting and going against his family that was always there for him. Allison Hathoway is staying with her best friend Winnie, who is engaged to Gene's step brother Dwight after the tragic death of her parents. Both of these characters have baggage and secrets they are carrying. Unfortunately, the story never really got involved with the characters. All it was was sex and lust. I didn't like either of the main characters at all. Gene was a narcissistic, egotistical, self centered man. He thought he was the answer to every women's prayers and fantasies. Allison tried to come off as prim and proper but was nothing but a tease. I enjoy spicy romance novels, but this had NO romance at all. I am surprised I even finished it. I wouldn't have even given it 1 star but I had to. Just atrocious!!

A Murder's Gruesome Premiere by Cynthia Raye A Murder's Gruesome Premiere: A Cozy Mystery Book by Cynthia Raye on Kindle. ARC
Maggie Fulton is an aging actress but her life belongs on stage. So when she is cast in this play she knows she has to give it everything she's got and will give it all that she has. The male lead is murdered on stage during their scene together in front of an audience. With help, Maggie is determined to find out who did this. As other coincidental accidents come into play, the pieces seem to scatter all around. Too many dramatic egos to decipher who is the culprit. This books is full of so much mystery, suspense and intrigue. The characters are very strong, solid and well defined. It was a real pager turner. I even enjoyed the hint of romance in the story. I would have given it 5 stars but I had a hard time keeping all the characters straight. None the less, I would definitely recommend this book. 4 stars

The Marchioness Who Tempted Fate A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hanna Hamilton The Marchioness Who Tempted Fate: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hanna Hamilton on Kindle. ARC
Tiffany Bentley is not going to take any more abuse from her adoptive mother. After her adoptive father died and left her to run the family bakery, her life has been awful. Tiffany takes up with other street children who rob and steal just to eat and survive. On the night they decide to break into Northbury she gets a bit too greedy and gets caught. Percival Dandridge, Marquess of Northbury is a kind, gentle man and decides to put her under house arrest and sends her to the kitchens. Unbeknownst to the Lord, she is an excellent cook and of course baker. After eating the horrendous food from Jones who is the cook, he dismisses him and puts her in for head cook. Percival is working with other men to build an orphanage to help the children. He has inquired Tiffany's help with her experience. Until the night Tiffany is screaming when she finds Percival stooped over his desk with a knife in his back. I just loved this book. It was one I just couldn't put down. He had everything in a great historical romance with sweet romance, mystery suspense and intrigue. Good guys and bad guys. I did reread the last few chapters when everything came to a head, as I got a bit confused on who was who, who was related to who and how it all tied together. None the less, the ending was unexpected and wonderful. I would absolutely recommend his book to all. I would give this more than 5 stars if I could.

Part 3 of the series. I didn't read the others, but this is a stand alone book. This was just such a sweet story. A story of second chances, forgiveness, family and of course some steamy romance. It was a fast read and I loved little Amber. This is my first book by this author, and I would definitely read more of hers. I would certainly recommend this book. It was just so heartwarming! 5 stars

It's been a while since I've read a book by Dean Koontz and I'd forgotten how his writing draws me in with its vivid descriptions. Rebellion (The MacGregors, #6) by Nora Roberts Rebellion by Nora Roberts in paperback
1745 Selena McGregor hates all English after that awful night they came the English came to her home in the highlands. So even her brothers best friend is an enemy to her. Coll's friend, Brigham Langston thinks Selena is not only beautiful but a real spit fire. He constantly taunts her with kisses and remarks. Selena tries to continue hating him, but something draws him to her. The Battle of Culloden that took place in 1746 was so described, it made my heart break. All the lives lost so horrifically. So much power between the blood lines was amazing. Not being a real history buff, I found some of the book hard to follow with so many names and characters to keep track of. But all in all a very good book. 4 stars

A Wicked Duke's Prize by Henrietta Harding A Wicked Duke's Prize: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Henrietta Harding on Kindle. ARC
Rebecca Frampton doesn't do anything she doesn't want to do. She has had endless number of arranged marriages by her father extinguished for one reason or another. She cares nothing for the formality of socialite life. Again, she is shocked when her fathers tells her that she is to marry a man from a deal over a game at the gambling house. Owen Crauford likes his life just fine. The freedom of bachelorhood he and his friend Theo have. Owen's fathers has lost most of the estate money through his gambling, so Owen isn't surprised when he finds his father has gambled his freedom away to help restore the financial burdens. Owen and Rebecca are not happy of this prearranged marriage and will do anything to end it. There first encounter and many following are like a match to oil. Through their conversations, they try to get a plan to end this. I just loved this book. I so much enjoyed the bantering between the two. Rebecca had me laughing with her sarcastic and demeaning conversations with Owen. My name is Rebecca, and it must be something in the name as I could see so much of this character in myself. Of course the ending is predictable, getting there was so very amusing. It had some twists and turns which also made it enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this book. 5 Stars

A Pure Love to Mend their Trust by Lilah Rivers A Pure Love to Mend their Trust: An Inspirational Historical Romance Book by Lilah Rivers on Kindle. ARC
A clean, inspirational historical romance. A lot of scriptures and it went on and on without any resolve for a long time. The main male character, Jethro, being the Reverends son seemed very closed minded and judgmental. And he was to be ordained? Hmmm. I do like that Annie put her own reputation at stake to save her cousins. I found this to be a long, boring book. I found I skimmed and skipped through much of it. 2 stars

The MacGregors Alan & Grant (The MacGregors, #3-4) by Nora Roberts The MacGregors: Alan & Grant by Nora Roberts in paperback
Two books in one. First story "All The Possibilities" is regarding Senator Alan MacGregor. He is presumed to run for the Presidency in the future. But the lovely, talented sculpture Shelby Campbell will never get involved with a politician after what happened to her father. The second story, "One Man's Art" is the story of Grant Campbell, Shelby's reclusive brother, who in his own way is also dealing what happened to his father. Until a soaked Gennie is knocking on the door to his lighthouse home during a terrible storm. She is the renown artist, Genevieve Grandeau. I really enjoyed these two stories. Especially the bantering back in forth with each couple. I loved Grant and his nasty, smugness and the sassyness and independent actions of the female characters. They are all so strong and aggressive in their own ways. Of course, Daniel MacGregor is so very amusing in both stories. All four definitely having minds of their own. A great book of moving on and forward and finding love and romance when you need it the most. I didn't give it 5 stars as I finally skipped over all the sex scenes. All the sex scenes got old really fast!! 4 stars

Almost Home (Chesapeake Diaries #3) by Mariah Stewart Almost Home in paperback
Steffie Wyler has always known what she wanted. Make ice cream, marry the coolest guy and live happy ever after. One out of three isn't bad. She owns her own business selling her homemade, unique ice cream. Wade MacGregor left for college in Texas and remained there to start a successful career in brewing beer. Now he is back in St. Dennis with more surprises than Steffie or anyone could imagine. Steffie has always cared for Wade but has walked in and out of her life too many times. Wade's life up till now has been a series of one drama after another. Sparks and all sorts of secrets fly in the town of St. Dennis. This was a delightful, fun book to read. The characters were fully developed and realistic. I loved how the author described the small coastal town. It had love and protection of family, forgiveness, secrets, love and romance and mystery and maybe even a bit of magical spells. I would very much recommend this book. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

Seaview Inn (Seaview Key, #1) by Sherryl Woods Seaview Inn by Sherryl Woods in paperback
A very heartfelt story with very strong, believable characters. It touches on broken families, betrayals, the hell of breast cancer patients, physical and emotional, the strength of family and friends, difficult choices, romances and second chances. Sherryl Woods let the story develop very nicely and didn't have the two main characters jump in bed immediately. The story plot and subplots evolved nicely. I felt the book, at times, dragged on and I felt I was scanning some of it. And then the ending happened way to fast. Hannah's forgiveness was way to quick. I wouldn't have been that gracious. But that being said, it was an emotional, heartwarming book. I would certainly recommend it. 4 stars

Faking a Date with Her Cowboy Boss Western Romance (Miller Brothers of Texas Book 5) by Natalie Dean Faking a Date with Her Cowboy Boss: Western Romance by Natalie Dean on Kindle. ARC
Book 5 in the Miller Brother Series. Simon and Leilani. I have really enjoyed this series and did this one too. For as rich and powerful the Miller family is, the brothers are kind, respectful, gentle and of course sexy. This story is of two people with a lot of baggage. Simon got his education and has traveled the world. Much to fathers disapproval. Now he is home and finds no really purpose in life and has no clue what he wants to do now. Leilani is working two jobs just to survive. She is being stalked by an ex boyfriend from Hawaii and trying to stay under the radar. So when she gets fired for protecting herself from a jerk at the bar, Simon gets her a job on the ranch. Simon is intrigued by this woman but is leery to pursue her. I liked the fact that this story did not have the two jumping into bed immediately. It was so romantic this way. This story was filled with love of family, forgiveness, mystery and suspense and of course, romance. It would be best to read this series in order as it is a bit difficult to put all the people together if you don't, but still it could be read as a stand alone. I felt felt the ending was too fast and I didn't feel it was competed. I would absolutely recommend this book. 5 stars

A Treacherous Bet to Win a Duchess by Hanna Hamilton A Treacherous Bet to Win a Duchess by Hanna Hamilton on Kindle. ARC
Meredith has been an orphan for as long as she can remember. She is now an adult and works at the orphanage in many ways. She gets an offer to work as a governess for Lady Cecelia, the younger sister of Anthony Ambrose, the Duke of Sherridan. She is very successful with reaching and teaching Lady Cecelia. Anthony and Cecelia have recently lost their mother which made Ambrose have to come back to take on his role as Duke. Neither one of them have had much of a relationship. So it is with no wonder when Meredith finds the Duke quite withdrawn and rather distant. Ambrose is not aware that Meredith was brought over from an orphanage. He thought she was a woman from society. Adding to the story is the fact that many are continually getting ill. Influenza is contagious, but constantly? Something is amiss. Through Meredith's working with Cecelia, the Duke has found the governess very interesting and enlightening. So, here begins the romance. I thought this was a delightful story. I enjoyed all the interactions among all the characters. Ambroses' friends are quite something else. The story has clean romance of course, mystery, intrigue and suspense. I really didn't understand how the title had anything to do with the story, I would recommend this book. 5 stars
