Yes I'm really pleased to knock 6 off December's books! Thanks :)

PattyMacDotComma | 3341 comments Thanks to everybody who links the title or writes it out so we can see what book you're reviewing.

The apps are sometimes hopeless, and even on a laptop the covers are too small (for me) to read - which means I probably skip your review. :(

PattyMacDotComma | 3341 comments I've just finished Amy Stewart's delightful Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit, the third in this wonderful historical fiction mystery series, based on a real lady cop. New Jersey in 1916. I'm sure glad she won't quit!

PattyMacDotComma | 3341 comments Richard Russo's characters always seem like people I'd recognise. In Chances Are, three guys and the girl they all (secretly?) adored were in college together during the draft for Vietnam. The guys are now 66, having a reunion, but where's Jacy?

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10038 comments Who says you have to be below a certain age to enjoy a YA book? Especially when it's written by Amie Kaufman. I enjoyed The Other Side of the Sky enough to be hoping that A&U don't make me wait too long for the sequel.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10038 comments Rupert Degas really does have the perfect voice and cadence for narrating Sulari Gentill's Rowland Sinclair series. It's truly a pleasure to listen to his rendition of #3, Miles Off Course.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10038 comments I was hooked by a short story by Robert Dugoni so I had planned to read his Tracy Crosswhite series. When I was approved on NetGalley for the 8th title in the series, I thought I'd better start at #1, so I can now say that My Sister's Grave is an excellent start to this series.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10038 comments I love Kerry Greenwood’s Phryne Fisher series, and thought I would try an audio version when I saw the latest book, Death in Daylesford, was available through Wollongong City Libraries. Previous books were narrated by (now-deceased) Stephanie Daniel, and having since sampled a few of these, I note that most characters do tend to English accents, even the working classes. This one is narrated by Julia Franklin who, while her rendition of Phryne, and of the Irish and Scottish characters is flawless, does something strange with the Australian characters: their vowels tend to perhaps kiwi or Canadian or some form of English, and likely to grate on Australian listeners. Perhaps I have been spoiled by the TV series. I shall stick to print with this series. 5★s for the story, 3★s for the reading, so call it 4★s

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10038 comments It's some years since I read Markus Zusak's early YA series, Wolfe Brothers, but when I saw the audio was available via BorrowBox from my library, I decided to revisit, especially as the narrator is Stig Wemyss, an inspired choice for this sort of character.
4★s for the first book, The Underdog
