I make a point of not focusing entirely on a single series. Over the years I've written different characters and stories in Rome, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. Wouldn't want to just focus on a single series for the very reasons you say.
The Savage Shore is the first Costa book in nine years and the next is a standalone set in the Faroes Islands. You have to keep challenging yourself in writing to make sure you don't go stale or find it 'easy' - it isn't and never should be.(less)
