Andrea | 2164 comments The 2019 joint-winner of the Booker, Girl, Woman, Other, gets 3★ from me. Usually I prefer a little more plot, but what little there was, was magnificently well-done.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Chris Hammer's third Martin Scarsden book, Trust takes the reader on quite a roller-coaster ride around Sydney's streets, with a pretty high body count by the end. Excellent Aussie crime fiction.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Fiona Macleod's narration of Sophie Green's first novel, The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club, is an absolute pleasure to listen to.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments It's four years since I read the print version of Derek B. Miller's second novel, The Girl in Green, so I'd forgotten, a little, how good it is. Robert Slade's excellent narration of the audio version really brings it to life and served to remind me just what an excellent read this is.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments At age 65, I like to think that my enjoyment of children's fiction, in this case, The Lost Soul Atlas, reflects not my (im)maturity, but the literary talent of Australian author, Zana Fraillon.

Carolyn | 9837 comments I was expecting an interesting read in this novel about female WW2 correspondents but was disappointed that it was more of a light adventure. Lots of 5★ reviews but only 2★ from me.

It should be in all schools and libraries.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Michelle Obama is an excellent example of "Nevertheless, she persisted", which has become a feminist cry.

In her memoir, Becoming, she takes us from Chicago's Southside to Ivy League universities to the White House. Great read, great audio as well.

I have only read one of this author's and that was enough to know her writing is not for me :) Sorry you were disappointed too Carolyn.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I was disappointed in the audio of Bill Bryson's early work, Neither Here Nor There. Not narrated by the author, the tone is altered and not as benign as I remember it being thirty years ago.
