Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I'm really loving Garry Disher's Paul Hirschhausen series and, with his laconic Aussie drawl, Steve Shanahan is an inspired choice to read the audio version of #2, Peace. His narration is absolutely perfect and a huge improvement on the Brit who did #1, so I do hope he's doing #3, Consolation, out in November.

Andrea | 2164 comments Dark Pines is #1 in a Scandi Noir series that I'm surprised isn't better-known. I read the audiobook, and I'm hooked. Luckily there are 2 more instalments to look forward to, so far.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments The Magic of Terry Pratchett by British journalist Marc Burrows is an interesting, informative and moving read, and has given me the impetus to dust off and read my Pratchett books.

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I just finished another one for my 'classics' challenge: the amazing Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert amazing because I had never read it before and had no expectation that it was going to be anywhere NEAR as marvelous a reading experience as it actually was.
Five stars with no hesitation!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments With the final (and probably best) book of the series, The Rosie Result read to me by Dan O'Grady, I have to bid a fond farewell to Don Tillman and co, and hope that the next entertaining novel by Graeme Simsion is not too long in coming.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments While it's not a quick read, Utopia Avenue is another excellent dose of David Mitchell magic. There are major spoilers for The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, as well as references to other David Mitchell works, and some (probably annoying) ear worms.... I loved it!
