2 stars

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I notice after reading this is set in the 50's which would make Jane about my age now, or older. Still my opinion is the same. The age demographics around this time, girls left home by getting married....I have known many who did just that to get away from controlling fathers. Others went to college and left to make careers aka moi. Stepping out on your own was considered very brave. If only I was an author ......!

Thanks Brenda, actually I did a bit of editing, maybe a bit harsh

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Well, I’m a bit sad to have now finished the third instalment of Dervla McTiernan’s Cormac Reilly series, The Good Turn: no more Cormac Reilly books to read. Luckily I am still listening to the audio version wonderfully narrated by Aiofe McMahon. I hope this talented author has more of Cormac up her sleeve. Or something else. Or maybe she will post her grocery list on Facebook, that would do. More please!

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 2304 comments I read the Illuminae Files novella, Memento, and it was a fun little story! It doesn't have it's own GR page as it's considered 'promotional material' as opposed to a book in it's own right, so I've tacked my review onto the end of my review for Illuminae, here:

Carolyn | 9837 comments This is a strange book. Not sure what genre it is but it's not a thriller or mystery despite the cover. At first I didn't think I'd get into it but I became more engaged with it as I read on.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Loved Death in Delft! This is the first of a brand new series from Graham Brack, (creator of my favourite Czech detective, Josef Slonsky). Master Mercurius is already another favourite character.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments I recently enjoyed the prequel (#.7) to Aussie-Irish author Dervla McTiernan's excellent Cormac Reilly mystery series. The Roommate is delightfully creepy.

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 2304 comments I got through The Sin Eater by Megan Campisi pretty quick, but it was a bit disappointing for me - mostly because I was expecting fantasy! Damn my preconceived notions!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I am quite sure that Grandmothers: Essays by 21st-century Grandmothers, edited by Helen Elliott and with 22 Aussie women contributing, will appeal to grandmothers and grandchildren, and that doesn't leave many people out, does it? Best read in small doses, but these essays are perfect for that. 4.5★s

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 2304 comments Ages ago I read a spoiler for You by Caroline Kepnes that ruined it for me. Then I forgot the spoiler, so decided to read it after all.

I can't decide if I regret that. I mean, it was so messed up but addictive enough to score 4 stars from me.
