Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I love Minnie Darke's second book, The Lost Love Song, although it wasn't easy to review without spoilers. I really would like to hear that song! And I shall have to hunt down Star-Crossed now.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Well, I am late to the party with Dervla McTiernan's Cormac Reilly series, but that does mean I get to read the two prequels, The Roommate (reviewed earlier) and The Sisters, before I start on The Ruin. These are excellent introductions to the series.
5★s for this one

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments YAY, Marianne! Time to catch up!

The Good Turn by Aussie/Irish author Dervla McTiernan is her best one yet! Irish detective Cormac Reilly is trying to fight crime and his superiors (I use the term loosely) at the same time.

I did not like to give book reports in school. Maybe that's why I am reluctant to leave lengthy book reviews.

Book reviews don't have to be long Cynthia. I actually find often shorter reviews which don't give away too much work better.

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments Is anybody normal, or do we just think everyone else is? I recently read Sally Rooney's Normal People, which was longlisted for the Booker Prize in 2018.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Small Mercies is the third novel by this Aussie author writing as Richard Anderson. It's not an action-packed rural drama, but a sedately-paced read, full of wonderful characters, evocative prose and topical issues – it is a read to be savoured, and it could be his best yet.
