I'm curious to hear how you liked it Bash. Your reasons are exactly my reasons to never listen to audiobooks, and also why in general I much prefer to read information myself than to listen to someone telling it.

its a plus if you have a book you can't seem to finish or get into it for some reason, listening to an audiobook while going along with it reading helps! I noticed it makes it more fun if you are not interested in it.
Good luck, Bash! It can be difficult to get used to something new. The first couple of times I tried audiobooks, I didn't really like them. I had a difficult time paying attention and thought they weren't for me. Now, I've been listening to them for years and love them.

I noticed that my listening skills are terrible and I prefer reading since I process the information well.
Time to practice!"
I found that keeping my hands busy on a mindless task like a jigsaw puzzle helped me concentrate on the words. That is what I started with when I first started to listen to audiobooks. I can do knitting or crochet too, as long as I do not have to keep reading a pattern. Walking or doing house chores, or gardening while I am listening keeps my mind on the audiobook and "enhances a boring chore". I like to follow along in a text copy too, if I can get both at the same time. Some books are just easier to listen to than others. Some narrators hold the focus on the story better than some too. If I am sitting in a chair, I like to do electronic Sudoku while I am listening on my iPod. The numbers and the pattern recognition do not seem to bother my ability to listen to the words. I do data entry at work too, and listen to audiobooks - when I can (typing the numbers or cutting and pasting from a list or spreadsheet is pretty mindless!)
Audible UK is having another 2 for 1 sale. They are killing me - one just ended yesterday! I spent a credits:Happiness - this was a mistake. Euphoria is on my wishlist and also has a parrot on the cover. what are the odds?
Platform Seven
Home Fire
Shadowplay
Lisa, I just finished The Mercies. I think I have to go back and change it to 5 stars from 4 because I can't stop thinking about it. The story is very haunting maybe because it's based on a true historical event.
I didn’t buy it but my mailbox had a nice surprise in it this morning. (I did not get the mail out on Saturday). I won a paperback copy of Jeffery Deaver’s book The Bone Collector in a GoodReads give away. 😊
That was a nice surprise, Cherie! I've stopped entering the Goodreads give aways, so it's nice to see that people actually win them.I also got a surprise in the mail. My copy of The Confession arrived.
Nice surpises all round! I picked up the audible UK DD The Last Widow. I read some of the Will Trent series but not all. I love the fact that he is dyslexic and usses colour coding, I can identify with that 😀
I had Daughter of Moloka'i on my wishlist for ages but it's still so expensive here. I just found it in my email with daily deals for only 1.99! So I snatched it up of course :)
wow Cherie congrats on your win. You are the first I person I know to win a good reads giveaway. Gives me hope for myself
Congrats Cherie!I've won a few over the years, but I don't enter them much anymore. The ARC of the Kurt Vonnegut biography was probably the coolest one I won.
Peggy wrote: "I picked up another kobo deal, Exit West"I loved Exit West. I don't keep a lot of books, but I kept this one. Hope you like it.
Roz wrote: "That's terrific, Cherie. Enjoy the book. And #1 in a series, too."I'm looking forward to reading it, when I get a chance.
Just a reminder that the free SYNC audiobooks for 2020 have been listed and downloads begin the end of April. You can check them out here: https://www.audiobooksync.com
Kristie wrote: "Just a reminder that the free SYNC audiobooks for 2020 have been listed and downloads begin the end of April. I still have freebies from a couple of years ago that I haven't read yet.

It's not my favorite lineup. There are two that I'd be really interested in, but one I already own and the other I've already read. Still, free is always worth taking a look at.
The Twelfth Night book appeals to me. I have not read it and it has a huge cast. I might check it out. Thanks for the posting, Kristie.
I just purchasedBlue Lily, Lily Blue
The Raven King
Since I want them to be available for me. I'd hate to wait, shipping takes a while.
I picked up a few books from the Audible 2 for 1 sale. I, Robot
Final Girls
The Other Daughter
Their Lost Daughters
I also grabbed a few Kindle books because Colleen Hoover is offering them for free in order to support people that are quarantined or self-isolating.
Verity
Never Never: The Complete Series
Too Late
Hopeless is also free, but I already own that one. All four of the books also offer a whispersync deal of $1.99. I only purchased the deal for Verity, but I may go back and grab the others at a later time.
I bought Grey Sister and Holy Sister which were both 99p for the kindle daily deal. Actually quite a few of Mark Lawrence's books are today.
Margo wrote: "I loved Verity. It left me hungry for more by Colleen Hoover."Are you able to take advantage of her offer? 4 Kindle books for free with the Whispersync match ups for $1.99.
I just pre ordered The Last Emperox for some self isolation reading. I was able to put my audible subscription on hold as i'm not going to be able to pay for it while my business is affected by coronavirus.
Sarah wrote: "Janice wrote: "I can hardly wait for The Last Emperox."Me too. It has been a fantastic series."
It will be great escape from the pandemic. (view spoiler)
Hey guys - I know a lot of us will probably be purchasing books/ebooks over the next few weeks/months. Please consider buying them from your local bookstore, if they offer online shopping, or an indie bookstore. The famous Powell's indie bookstore has temporarily laid off 85% of their workforce and closed all five retail stores. They are still offering online book orders, so please order if you can. Powell's staff is unionized, and the union has set up a fund to help laid off workers. If you order through this link, you can support both Powell's and their displaced workers. Something like 7.5% of sales goes to a worker relief fund. Click on the Powell's button at the bottom of the link not the donate button (unless you want to)
Here is the link:

I am going to be hitting up my charity shops this weekend if they are still open. We have three near us and are planning to donate a load of DVDs and CDs.
This is not typically a genre I read a lot from, but I picked up a few books in the Audible sale. I got: The Road to Jonestown: Jim Jones and Peoples Temple
The Great Cholesterol Myth: Why Lowering Your Cholesterol Won't Prevent Heart Disease-and the Statin-Free Plan That Will
Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men
How You Decide: The Science of Human Decision Making
They looked interesting to me. I hope I actually listen to them. It's quite possible this was a Corona induced impulse buy. lol
I figure I did ok though because there were plenty more that I also considered, but I rationalized myself out of them. I almost got Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis and The Stranger in the Woods: The Extraordinary Story of the Last True Hermit, but didn't because my library carries them. So, I only ended up with 4. That's good... right?? lol
I just realized that The Great Cholesterol Myth: Why Lowering Your Cholesterol Won't Prevent Heart Disease-and the Statin-Free Plan That Will was published in 2012. I wonder how relevant it will be since 8 years is a long time in the medical field.
I haven't really looked at the sale. It's not exactly my genre either, and the price is just under $7.00 US. I have to add the rate of exchange to it too.
Janice wrote: "I haven't really looked at the sale. It's not exactly my genre either, and the price is just under $7.00 US. I have to add the rate of exchange to it too."I shouldn't have even looked at it. It really was an "I'm stuck in isolation" purchase.

Are we writing about what we purchased for books or in general? Talbots is having a great sale online!!! Hahaha

I bought The Apartment. It is a mystery so bought it for my mam but I like the sound so I might have to have a listen 😃
I purchased more books knowing i'll be having a lot of free time:
Now I can relax and read what I have, If its late (which will probably be) I won't have to worry since now I have 5 books and audible!
Peggy wrote: "I bought Island of a Thousand Mirrors"One of my favs - hope it’s a good read for you, Peggy.
