I'm glad you're enjoying The Sun Down Motel, Jayme. I really want to read that one. I have the next hold through my library, but I need to wait until I have some time to enjoy it. I enjoyed the last book I read by her, The Broken Girls.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I decided in the middle of a pandemic to read Deadliest Enemy: Our War Against Killer Germs

Pretty scary stuff

Sarah | 18550 comments I'm struggling to hold my attention at the moment. I am still working my way through my graphic novel The Doll's House though.

message 355: by Sandra, Moderator (last edited Mar 18, 2020 07:41AM) (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11283 comments I'm struggling to focus and read. I would have said that being in quarantine would be a reader's paradise, but I spend more time reading the news than actual books.

I gave up on Fly by Night, which I was buddy reading with Janice and Bash. After 10% it was obvious I was not connecting with the story or the characters.

I started Britt-Marie Was Here a couple of days ago.

message 356: by Grainne (new)

Grainne Coughlan | 1319 comments I finished Dare to Lead and thought she made some good points. Her writing style has a great flow to it and I find it easy to understand.

I finished the The Murmur of Bees for the monthly read. I really enjoyed its style, flow and characters. It was written very well and treated historical topics with gentleness.

I am also reading The Water Cure which is not my usual choice. It's for an-in-person book club that I go to.

I also have Everything I Never Told You and The Testaments on loan from the library so I hope that I can get to them.

message 357: by [deleted user] (new)

Sandra, I am the same! I thought I would be reading so much more.

Currently reading The Murmur of Bees, The True Story of Hansel and Gretel and Before I Fall.

Jayme | 4545 comments @ Sandra & Anna. Same here. I can't seem to focus on what I'm reading, so I'm putting all the deep, heavy stuff aside and focusing on no-brainer or light stuff for the time being.
I am currently reading Me.

message 360: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I finished The Doll's House for the monthly challenge. I ditched The Broken Girls, not because I didn't like it but because i need some fluff. So started reading Firefight.

message 361: by Renee (new)

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments I am readingThis is How It Always Is. It is for my F2F book group. It is so familiar. I think I may have read it before. It seems like a waste of time to keep reading it. I know we wont meet.

message 362: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60010 comments I had so many books on the go, that it felt like I wasn't accomplishing anything. I finished them all within the last couple of days:

Preludes and Nocturnes: Dream a Little Dream of Me for the Monthly Challenge
Fly by Night for a buddy read
The Murmur of Bees for the group themed read.

I will start The Tell-Tail Heart for my trivia challenge tonight.

My audiobook is almost finished and will be tomorrow's post. I hope.

Kristie | 19218 comments I need to get through a few that I’ve got going at the moment too, Janice.

message 365: by Lilisa (new)

Lilisa | 2770 comments Finished one of the three I’m reading - Foresight set in Hong Kong and China, which I’m using for the year-long challenge - it’s set in the 1980s. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

message 366: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60010 comments I finished Golden Fool on audiobook. It feels great to have all new content to read. I was getting bogged down. I think for me, having two many books on the go at one time bogs me down.

Tomorrow, I will start Clockwork Angel. It's a re-read for me. I've forgotten too much of the story to move on. I have all three books slotted into my trivia challenge and hope to kill off that series soon.

I own that one, but haven't read it yet. I may have to peek at your challenge to see where you end up slotting them. Maybe I'll finally start it this year too.

message 368: by PattyMacDotComma (new)

PattyMacDotComma I recently enjoyed the prequel (#.7) to Aussie-Irish author Dervla McTiernan's excellent Cormac Reilly mystery series. The Roommate is delightfully creepy.

PattyMacDotComma Loved Death in Delft! This is the first of a brand new series from Graham Brack, (creator of my favourite Czech detective, Josef Slonsky). Master Mercurius is already another favourite character.

I have two of those tasks to fill. I'd just have to find something else for Clockwork Prince. Hmmm... maybe I'll move it up my list of series.

Grainne Coughlan | 1319 comments I am reading Something New. It’s a graphic novel for this month’s challenge.

message 373: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11662 comments Finished Golden Fool. Starting The Glass Woman.

message 374: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Struggling to read. I put down Firefight due to its dystopian genre. Not up for that right now. So I moved on to The Human Division as it's a fun series. Struggled to get into it although I'll persevere. But I also started a book of short stories as I might find I can concentrate better on those. So I'm reading Rogues. I also got another graphic novel, SPY×FAMILY 1 as that seems like a good call at the moment.

message 377: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I haven't read chicklit in ages, but I came across Forget About It on my TBR and it sounds light, silly and uncomplicated, so it might be just what I need.

message 378: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4544 comments I'm reading The Sea of Lost Girls. This is my 4th book by this author. So far I like it.

message 380: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I read SPY×FAMILY 1 for a netgalley review. It was great escapism and held my attention well.

message 381: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60010 comments I finished The Tell-Tail Heart for the trivia challenge. I didn't really enjoy it all that much.

Hopefully Silver Borne will pick me up. I'll start it tonight.

PattyMacDotComma I can't resist a visit to Canadian author Louise Penny's Three Pines, so I recently enjoyed The Long Way Home. Now looking forward to the next one!

message 386: by Renee (new)

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments I just started The Murmur of Bees I love the rich poetic writing.

message 387: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I loved that too about that book Renee.

message 388: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I read another graphic novel for a netgalley review Something is Killing the Children #1 which has a stranger things vibe to it. I really liked it. I just received The Last Emperox on netgalley so I'll read that now and put the other Scalzi book I'd started on hold.

message 389: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60010 comments I finished a re-read of Clockwork Angel. I felt I needed a refresher before I go on to the remaining 2 books in the series. It's a good thing I did. I'd completely forgotten the story!

A hold came available for download so my next read will be World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War.

message 391: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60010 comments I finished Silver Borne in the wee hours of the morning. I'm determined to finish this series, and I'm not even half way through.

I started Mutant Message Down Under today. I understand that there is some controversy about the validity of this book. The author notes that it is a book of fiction and that is the way I intend to approach it, not as a memoir and not as a new age how-to manual. It's a short book and hopefully will fill in the gap between now and Apr 1st.

message 392: by Renee (new)

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments I read mutant a long time ago. It was a 1 star for me. I don't remember much of it. That goes along with my one star. One stars are books I typically find not worth remembering. I have the book in the same category as The alchemist and Eat Pray love. Both are 1 star for me. I think if you liked those books you will like Mutant Message.

message 393: by Lilisa (new)

Lilisa | 2770 comments Finished The Hundred-Year Walk: An Armenian Odyssey - about the Armenian genocide around WW I - - well done and absorbing portrayal of one man's (the author's grandfather) harrowing story. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
