I have started two books today - It's Not OK to Feel Blue (and other lies): Inspirational people open up about their mental health on audiobook for twisted trivia. It's a collection of stories about mental health from famous people and mental health activists. It's really good so far. I'm really liking all the different narrators. I have also started The Calculating Stars for the group read and twisted trivia.

I'm going to start The Ten Thousand Doors of January today. It's a buddy read but also works for the trivia challenge.

I finished reading The Goldfinch yesterday. I am about half way through Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup. I am listening to Horrorstör on audio for another group read. I want to start another book in the next day or two, but I'm not sure yet what I'll pick up.

I am starting Orphan X and Big Lies in a Small Town. I am reading Big Lies as a review for NetGalley and hope to be able to review it before its publication date on the 14th. I am starting the Orphan X series because I have Into the Fire through NetGalley as well and haven't read any of the previous books. That review will be late, but I'm hoping to read the whole series before the end of February. I'd like to actually keep up with my review books this year. And killing off a series quickly is an added bonus. :)

Later today, I'll be starting The Map of Salt and Stars on ebook for the group themed read and The Ten Thousand Doors of January on audiobook for a buddy read. Both books will fit my twisted trivia challenge.

I am reading a book by one of my favorite authors I am really enjoying it. I love the chars Allende creates. The story has captured me so intently that I am really worried about them

I'm reading Fangirl. I got this book without even reading what it was about so I had no idea what to expect. I guess it's a challenge for me. I'm always into the fast-paced, adventure-driven storylines, and when there's no clear character aim or journey or something to look up (or out) for, I don't enjoy the book as much, or sometimes even keep interest in it. Fangirl is a nice book, fun to read but I don't think I would've got it had I actually read the synapse lol

I never read any Allende books Renee. I want to, and they usually end up in my possibilities for the year long challenges, but then I always end up picking something else.

I still have The Calculating Stars, King Rat and Dread Nation to start. The first is a group read book, the second is for the monthly challenge and the last is a buddy read and a book for my TT yearly challenge.

I've done it again and I'm juggling too many books.
I am currently reading The Ten Thousand Doors of January, Dread Nation, The Calculating Stars, listening to The White Lioness. I re-listened to A Monstrous Regiment of Women to prepare for reading Locked Rooms, which I got from my library today.

While nervously awaiting regular alerts about the Aussie bushfires, I've been reading the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Overstory by Richard Powers. A good readable mix of characters, history, and tree info, as well.

Margo - When they are all different kinds of stories, I don’t have a problem keeping them separate in my head. The problem is that I get bogged down trying to give each one equal time and that makes me frustrated. What usually happens is that one takes over and I finish and move on to the next. OR the other thing that happens is I get one that I want to read to the exclusion of all the others I had started and that one takes over until I get it out of my system. That is where I am now. My library served up the next Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes ebook sooner than I expected and I jumped in with both feet. I will be up for air soon and tackle the other books.

Hehe Cherie, but isn't it great when a book sucks you in like that?

At the moment I'm reading two thrillers both set in London, both with with frequent references to the area I grew up in. It's too much! I am getting the stories mixed up. They are both good but I am near the end of Sometimes I Lie, only a few hours to go, so I will park The Silent Patient until tomorrow.

Is the genre or the setting is different I like to move from book to book as the mood takes me.

I picked up The Amber Spyglass as after finishing the first series of His Dark Materials, I want to finish the series before the second tv series comes out.

I've struggled with reading books that are too similar at the same time too. I was reading Educated and The Great Alone at the same time and had to put one down.

Right now, I'm reading Dread Nation, Big Lies in a Small Town, and Everything is Figureoutable. I'm enjoying all of them. Fortunately, they are nothing alike so I don't have any difficulty keeping them straight.

The only problem with reading multiple books at once is that it takes longer to get through any of them so I don't really feel like I'm making any progress unless I read a LOT.

I am reading an old favorite. series. AgathAgatha Raisin and the Witch of Wyckhadden I needed to comfort of an old friend with the power to make me laugh, New year new battles with insurance

That is what I meant, Kristie. I look at the date, and think "it has been six or seven days, and I haven't finished a book yet." It makes me feel I've slowed down and I will never catch up. I don't intentionally go out of my way to read so many books all at once, it just happens that way; with a buddy read book, a group read book, a yearly challenge book, a monthly challenge book and a just because book all lining up to all be available at the same time. I think it depends on the formats too. I usually try to have one print book, one ebook, and one audiobook all going on, but when three or four print books and two or three audiobooks all try to line up at the same time, it bogs down the works. I have five library print books all clamoring to be read and that nagging reminder in the back of my head saying "hurry up, they have to go back". Maybe it is just the first of the new year sprint to get something posted too. It will all work out. :o)

I have the first book on my challenge list. I own all three books too. I remember the animated movie but have not seen the tv series. I hardly ever watch tv.

I'm the same, Cherie! I like to have one physical and one audio at any given time, but sometimes it just happens that different reads squeeze their way in for different reasons. The good thing is that all of a sudden in one or two days I'll end up adding 2-3 completed reads, then I feel good about it again.
