    Questions for Mods?

I've changed my 2020 personal challenge from 75 to 80 and so now it's in the wrong place. :/Can it be moved or do I just delete the old one and redo it in the correct section?

@M (The Long Hot Spell)
no worries. I'll move it for you right now. Done.

Hello mods! :)I was just talking about my last year's reading challenge in another community and how I tracked my habit to read every day with an app I did. Someone suggested this reading challenge (I don't know how didn't I know about since I use goodreads to review some of the books I read!) and also said that it might be helpful to the people pursuing the challenge if I let them know about the app. But the last thing I'd like to do is come here and pollute the forum so I wanted to know if there's any specific subforum to talk about tools/systems/methods to enjoy reading and doing it more!
I'm not a blogger but I'm sharing a blog post I wrote about my challenge which shows the app in case you want to give it a look. Thanks for your time!

Out of pure curiosity, how are the monthly themes chosen? I know the yearly theme is voted on, but it says the monthly ones don't always go with that, so I'm curious haha

I am sending you a message.

It is the first thing we do when we start preparing for the new year in the beginning of autumn :)
Hello! What is the difference between (1) a thread in the 2020 Reading Challenge and (2) a folder in members corner? I believe both steps are recommended in the new members welcome. Thank you!

EmilyW wrote: "Hello! What is the difference between (1) a thread in the 2020 Reading Challenge and (2) a folder in members corner? I believe both steps are recommended in the new members welcome. Thank you!"Hello EmilyW!
Typically,
(1) One's thread in a Personal Challenge folder is used to track all of the books you read during the year, whereas
(2) Your Member's Corner thread would include posts for any challenges that you've joined, whether inside or outside this group. You can list all your tentative reads in your Member's Corner post, then only post books you've actually read in the challenge thread.
If you don't participate in any reading challenges, however, you could create only a personal challenge thread to follow your reading journey to your Goodreads Reading Challenge goal.
If I were you, I'd sneak a peek at some of the other members' threads (both personal challenge & Member's Corner) to see how they're organized.
I'm new to this group & have joined quite a few challenges. Is there a one stop shop to see what each challenge is reading?
I don't know if the issue is the App, or if I don't know how to navigate the site, but it is difficult to find what is being read this month & in February.
Also, how can I find my comment, so that I can add which books I have read, so far?
Thank you!!

Hi Ruth, here is a link to your topic: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... I would suggest to bookmark it, so you can easily find it next time.
For the challenges in this group, you are free to decide what you read as long as it fits the requirements of the challenge. If you would like to see an overview of he group reads and buddy reads, I would suggest to go to the monthly message.
Does this answer your question?
Dianne wrote: "Is their an Admin here or do the Mods administrate this forum/themselves?"Dianne, there are only Moderators here. We do everything within the group. Is there anything that you need help with?
Ilona wrote: "Dianne wrote: "Is their an Admin here or do the Mods administrate this forum/themselves?"Dianne, there are only Moderators here. We do everything within the group. Is there anything that you need..."No I don't think I need anything right now. My question was answered elsewhere.
Thank you.
Hi Mods! My question is about the Monthly Readathons. I know last year they were posted and were usually the first Saturday of every month. Is there a list somewhere of the Readathon dates for this year? Or is it just assumed that they're on the first Saturday of the month?

Kat wrote: "There used to be a graph of the books you've read by genre. Is that gone or ???"My apologies for the belated reply. I cannot recall there being a graph that sorted books read by genre, but Goodreads discontinued several graphs last year, so that might be why you cannot find it.
Michelle wrote: "Hi Mods! My question is about the Monthly Readathons. I know last year they were posted and were usually the first Saturday of every month. Is there a list somewhere of the Readathon dates for this..."Hi Michelle, do you mean our monthly challenges? They are unlocked around the 25th of each month.
No, last year there was a list of dates for a 24 hour readathon, which were usually held on the first Saturday of the month. The dates were posted under a link titled "Readathon Dates". But honestly, even if there isn't one this year, I might just keep doing it on my own anyway. I love having an excuse to do nothing but read all day. lol

Challenges and events that are not hosted by this group are found in the Blog/Vlog folder if one of the members has been kind enough to share. You can also have a look at this website http://www.littlebookowl.com/p/read-t... for a complete list of readathons

I began posting my titles read for some of the challenges. Now I wanted to add some titles I just finished. I clicked on edit but nothing happened. What do I try to do now?

Nancy from NJ wrote: "I began posting my titles read for some of the challenges. Now I wanted to add some titles I just finished. I clicked on edit but nothing happened. What do I try to do now?"I'm not sure what to tell you Nancy. I've been editing my posts in various threads in this group today without a problem.
Are you trying to add books to a post via the mobile app? The "add book/author" feature might only work on a computer.
Let's wait for another mod to chime in, since I never use the mobile app.
I'm using my PC computer. I find that not everything can be done through the app or iPhone. I'll continue trying as long as I know I was doing the right thing,Thank you for answering and so quickly. One thing about these groups, members don't let you stumble in the dark.
Hello. When I click the "View Challenge" link from my Goodreads homepage under the 2020 challenge it takes me to the usual page, but my books are gone now. It displays my friends but not my books as it used to. Is this a change to the site, a bug, or did I change settings somehow? Please advise.

@JamesI cannot answer your question, but it seems like you have a bug.
Just now, I visited your profile and clicked "View Books" under your 2020 Reading Challenge (at the top right of your profile page), which displayed the five books you've read so far this year.
I also checked the "Help/Knowledge" topics but nobody posted a problem similar to yours.
If I were you, I would wait a day to see if the issue fixes itself.
If it doesn't, you can click Help (left-click your profile picture at the top right for a drop-down menu) then "Contact Us" to email Goodreads support.
Good luck!
Hi guys. I accidentally disabled notifications for this group, but I can't seem to re-enable it, because it's not in my discussions anymore. Please help :)

Instead of selecting "none" you should be able to check one of the other options.

Hi Ilona,
Thanks for your reply, it sure is a helpful thread!
I belong to a group that helps readers with the names of books that the reader can't remember. ( What's the Name of That Book??? https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... ) However, it is a HUGE group and your request quickly gets ignored and you can only bump your request once a month if someone can't name the book right away. I was wondering since we have so many dedicated readers of different genres on this forum if we might be able to do something like that on a smaller scale here?
Dianne wrote: "I belong to a group that helps readers with the names of books that the reader can't remember. ( What's the Name of That Book??? https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/......"Hi Dianne, feel free to start a topic in our Let's Chat folder (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...) if you are looking for a specific book title. :)
Sorry but I just posted 2 questions in the Pop Sugar Challenge folder. I didn’t see this folder at that time. Now, I have another question here. If I List my books for prompts in different posts, which message number do I use to update?Do you suggest I simply use one post with all of the prompts and book titles or separate or it doesn’t matter?
Thanks for your help.
Nancy from NJ wrote: "Sorry but I just posted 2 questions in the Pop Sugar Challenge folder. I didn’t see this folder at that time. Now, I have another question here. This is the message where you tell your challenge leader that you want to sign up for the challenge.
In each update post you also need to list the total amount of books read.
It does not matter if you post all the prompts and book titles in your original post or if you list them when you update, just be aware that the challenge leader does not check if you update your original post.
More information can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Thanks Ilon for the answer to my question. I am more than halfway finished with my challenge and have decided to use one page for my updates with the number of pages read out of total number of pages.

Hi mods!I was reading the unofficial challenge rules, and it said to check first before doing one. Whilst I know this won't be used as an official challenge, I'm wanting to host a challenge I found at my local library. It's a list of 20 prompts to read throughout the year (a bit like popsugar style, but different prompts). It's broad, so can be used world wide despite it coming from my local library.
Am I able to share it in the blog/Vlogs, Challenge category?

Hi Ashleigh, thanks for checking in with us first! Go ahead and post it in the Blogs/Vlogs, Events and Challenges folder :)
I think I've seen this somewhere, but can't find it now. If I read a book that could be used in more than one challenge, can I do that? Or is each book limited to one challenge. Ex: Medea fits into the Yearly Challenge about Myths and also into the Q2 Pinspiration challenge under the Courage heading. Can I use it in both places? Thank you.

Hi! A question for our mods : in January, I created a thread in the "personnal challenge 1-25" part of the forum. I've read my 25th book and I'm moving my goal up. Can you move my thread to the "personnal challenge 26-50" part please? Thanks in adavance!

Hi Mods. I guess this message is for Blagica regarding the 2020 Personal Challenge. I originally joined the 101-200 personal challenge category (aiming for 160 books) but as I have already reached 104 books, that challenge will be reached too soon in the year. So I have created a new post in the 200+ category-- but I don't know what to do about the soon-to-be-obsolete 'Jai's 160 books in 2020'. Can I just delete those posts?

Apologies for the belated reply. Normally I would recommend to move the personal challenge thread to the next folder and just continue. As you have already created a new thread you can either ask a mod to delete the old topic or just leave it there to be archived at the end of the year.

I would appreciate it if a mod would delete my old topic 'Jai's 160 books in 2020', as I no longer need it. Thanks in advance.

Your requested thread has been deleted.
Hi! I looked several places and couldn't find the answer so hopefully this is the right place to ask. Can we use a book for a monthly challenge if we started it before the start date but finished it during the challenge? If so, is there a certain number of unread pages it should have to qualify? For example, I started reading Children of Blood and Bone in April and was a little less than halfway before the Shiver Me Timbers challenge started. Can I use it for the challenge?

Yes, as long as you finish a book within a challenge's duration, you can count it for that challenge. It doesn't matter when you actually started the book or how many pages you've already read before the 1st of that month.
Welcome to the group, Aiswaryna.I'm not sure what you mean but if you're referring to the Bookshelf link at the top right of the group's Home Page, that bookshelf is for tracking the monthly Group Reads, which are voted on by group members.
Only Winter, the group mod in charge of Group Reads works with that bookshelf, although the rest of us are free to view it.
The short answer is, no, please don't add books yourself to the Group Reads bookshelf.
I sent you a Welcome Message not long ago, so you can refer to it for more information about how Group Reads work.
Hope that answers your question.
Ruthie wrote: "Hello Moderators!:) I have just joined this group and set up my goal and introduced myself. I'm wondering what else I have to do? Also, does it matter if I read the month's group book, and I didn't..."Ruthie,
If you send me a private message within the next 30 minutes or so (while I'm still at Goodreads), I will reply with the Welcome message. I think (but I'm not sure) that I can message you if you message me first.
If you don't hear back right away, I'll be sure to send it to you later this evening.
