SOLVED. Book I read a long time ago. [s]

So I read this book a while ago. I remember it was a part of the american battle of the books from a couple years ago so that should narrow it down a little. But it was about this one kid who I think lived in the mountains, and one day as he was playing near a river he fell in and got swept down the river and ended in a cave where the river flowed through. He had to escape the cave and return home. That's really all I remember about it.

My Side of the Mountain and On the Far Side of the Mountain have similar themes and were Battle of the Books picks in 2017, but I don't remember a cave scene like the one you described. Could it be Leepike Ridge?
