Ginger was a self-absorbed narcissist who only had a child so that she could use him to manipulate others. That said, this entire back story was very troubling to me. Many people have awful childhoods and abusive parents and they don't become obsessive murderous stalkers. It bothers me when these types of backgrounds are presented as seemingly mitigating circumstances for the killer's choices.
I don’t think Brennan went far enough in relating his background to his deadly psychological behavior. There should have been a turning point in his behavior at a younger age, not in high school with the girlfriend. His tendencies should have shown up sooner.
I agree with Lauren, his background didn't make him a killer, no matter what a piece of work his mother was. I suspected he killed her from the beginning.
Aaron was Ginger's property and no one but her could do him right, in her eyes. To her he was a possession and since she didn't have much she didn't want to let him go. I didn't think that Aaron had killed her until it was revealed. I figured she had finally met someone who truly cared about her and she didn't need Aaron anymore.
I thought that, too, Melissa, until I learned no one had heard from her in years. That was certainly out of character for her. That’s when I was certain he’d killed her.
I didn't think he killed her until it was revealed that she just disappeared. She always came back into his life. It was at that point that I was pretty sure he killed her.
