Luci Limón (lucilimon) | -3 comments Hey guys! Does anyone here know if I can take bonus points by participating in a buddy read even if I have already started the book?
I started The Two Towers this week but only got to 10% before I left it to finish another book, and I just saw that there is a buddy read planned for January and I was wondering if I could join it in order to get the extra points (I know that I'm only allowed to claim 90% of the pages, but does that apply for the BR too?)

message 11: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (pragyaagr13) | 1236 comments @ Luci - Yes, as long as you buddy read it with someone in January.

As long as the thread was already set and planned you'll get BR points for posting comments there even if no one else shows up to participate :)

FYI, there is a buddy read thread for that one starting the 3rd, but is active up to a week before, if you wanna post thoughts for bonus points. I'm re-reading it this weekend along with.. shoot, someone else! I lined up several and now I don't recall who is reading it with me lol. There is also going to be a BR for the sequel starting the 7th too!

As long as the thread is still active you can post the comments that is before 7 days from the set date and 14 days after the set date.
If people are still commenting in the thread then it is also active no matter the set date is a bit more than 14 days.
I hope this is making sense.

message 37: by Luci (new)

Luci Limón (lucilimon) | -3 comments Hey guys!
Today I finished Dark Matter and already posted it on the review thread, I noticed that the method for picking the letter we want to get is different from last time I participated in a challenge. I believe that now it is possible to choose any letter that appears in the title, is that so? So for example with that book I would be able to take letter R (from dark)? I wasn't sure so I did it the old way, but I want to know before I claim my next read!
Anyways, I started reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and it's really catching, so hopefully I'll finish it soon!!

message 38: by Elizabeth Emily (new)

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments Hey Luci, yes with this challenge we can pick any letter that appears in the title. With bonus points every time we complete happy new year I believe 😌

You can also use any letter in the series name, author's name or in "by" from what I read

Elizabeth Emily Browne (snakesandladderrs) | 2186 comments I am almost finished with Six of Crows and about a quarter of the way through The Sky Weaver 😌

message 43: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments I'm working on The Weight of the Stars and The Brilliant Death and I'm planning to use H and P so we'll only need one more P to complete Happy New Year again!

message 44: by HeatherH (new)

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 2156 comments Does anyone know if we HAVE to use the highest page count? I just finished Beneath the Sugar Sky which the highest for it is less than 200. I'm planning to read In an Absent Dream as well but it has one edition that is 204, the rest are under 200.. I'd rather use the under 200 edition and add them together as I do not plan to read anything else short enough this month to add to the first, just not sure that is allowed?

I don't think you have to use the highest but you should check with Maddie or Sarah cause I am not completely sure

message 46: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments I'm going to make us a little spreadsheet so we can see what letters we need more easily. I'll send the link when it's ready!

message 47: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Okay here it is. All you need to do is put your book in the corresponding letter slot!

Luci Limón (lucilimon) | -3 comments Great spreadsheet Andrea! Thank you!!

I'm currently reading The Two Towers but it might take me a while to finish it, maybe next week...

message 50: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 14480 comments Quick thing, if you haven't finished you book on the spreadsheet let's indicate that by bolding your book or something!
