Written by an author who has more than 20 books? If you count all of the Cosmere books as one series, it works as more than 20 books in the series too

Seems like it's a murder mystery and motives usually fall under the seven deadly sins. Hopefully it meets the bechdel test?

Would you consider "Truluv" to be a pun in the title? It could also be used as a book about a family, if you would consider that your favorite prompt from a previous year.

I used Elantris for 'author with more than 20 books' but it could also work for 'a book with a map'. There's a sort of language in it which is comprised of symbols so I reckon it would count for 'book with a made-up language' too.
I absolutely LOVED it so I hope you do too!

How about 'book with a 3 word title' for either of them?

Aimee (pebbles320) Hey all, I'm about to start reading The Familiars for a podcast book club and I want to try and fit it into the challenge. Sadly I've already done 'book recommended by an online book club' or that would have been perfect! Any other suggestions?

There's a bird on the cover. That's the prompt I'm using the book for.

Jenny Dahl Bakken | 34 comments Thanks, I already had a Jemisin book I was planning to use for that prompt. But I’ll see I found another for one of them :) Beloved also fits the «book published in the 20th century», but I have several that fills that prompt too.

I used Blood of Elves for published in the 20th century. Sword of Destiny was first published in 1992 so you could do the same. It's a 3 word title. It has a made up language and over a 4 star rating. It probably passes the Blechdel test too.

It's your reading challenge so make it work for you. Some people are counting reading the news for the prompt for a medical thriller.

I was wondering if I could use this book for a book about a world leader. Reading the description, I think probably not. I feel I could make the argument that Queen Elizabeth is a world leader, but it seem like I couldn't say that the book is "about" her.
Is there anyone here who's read it, and could give their input?

Queen Elizabeth shows up once or twice in the book - as I recall it was a minor subplot to show her interest in the Gown. The main characters are two young women who take the lead on sewing the gown.

10. A book recommended by your favorite blog, vlog, podcast, or online book club?
13. A book with the same title as a movie or TV show but is unrelated to it
27. A book featuring one of the seven deadly sins
33. A book with at least a four-star rating on Goodreads
34. A book you meant to read in 2019?
6. A book by an author who has written more than 20 books

Irene (irene5) | 32 comments Eli wrote: "Hi, I am currently reading The Overstory by Richard Powers. Any suggestions on where I could fit it in? The more the merrier. Thanks! :)"

Hi! Just from looking at the description, I saw that it fits these prompts right away:

23. A book that won an award in 2019
It won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction (2019)

8. A book with an upside-down image on the cover
The outer circle on the cover has rotated the image 180 degrees so the sky and trees are on the bottom

33. A book with at least a four-star rating on Goodreads
This book has a rating of 4.17 stars

27. A book featuring one of the seven deadly sins
A book about the destruction of the natural world will almost certainly feature Greed, and perhaps Gluttony, Sloth, and Pride as well.

And of course, it could fit some of the ones that have to do you with, such as if your birthday is in April (#21), if you didn't know anything about the subject matter (#24), etc.

Hope this helped!

It's one of my all-time favorites - I read it for the challenge a few years ago (non-human narrator, I think?) and fell in love with it. It's beautiful. It fits the following categories:

A book with a 4 star GR rating
Bildungsroman
A book with only words on the cover (there are wavy lines across the cover, which you may or may not count as an image)
A book by or about a journalist
A book with more than 20 letters in its title

That is such an amazing book! Everyone in my book club loved it! Here are my ideas for fitting it into this year's Popsugar challenge:
It might fit #3-great first line? It might fit #5-set in a city that has hosted the Olympics? (Though I don't recall there is a city mentioned...) #7-book you touch on the shelf with your eyes closed? #10-a book recommended by your favorite blog, vlog, podcast, or online book club? #12-a book that passes the Bechdel test? (I can't remember if that would work or not.) #19-set in a country beginning with "C"? (Again, can't remember if the country is even mentioned.) #20-the title caught your attention? #21-published the month of your birthday? (Or maybe your son's birthday?) #24-book on a subject you know nothing about? #27-Deadly sins-Greed. #33-at least a 4-star rating-4.25. #34-a book you meant to read in 2019? #40-your favorite prompt from a past Popsugar reading challenge? #46-author has written more than 20 books.

message 297: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 125 comments LOVED the Bear and the Nightingale series. You can fit it under the following:

Passes the Bechdel test
A Bildungsroman
4 star rating

Also, depending on how strict you are, parts of the book are set in Moscow which has hosted the olympics
