I liked DOG DAYS quite a bit myself!
Finished reading NOS4A2, by Joe Hill, fantastic book, here is my reviewhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This one was a hella uncomfortable read. I enjoyed some of the stories, but a couple of them were just... so gross. 😂
3/5 stars
Vanishing Hour, by Lisa King. An unusual and uplifting take on the Apocalypse genre :https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
She has a Broken thing Where her Heart Should Be. A masterpiece by J.D. Barker. Up there with King and Koontz
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Evil Within by S.M Hardy. A mystery wrapped into a ghost story. Original stuff.

The Forever House by Tim Waggoner. A totally crazy horror story featuring a sorta screwed up mean version of The Addams Family.

The Unnoticeables by Robert Brockway. Punk horror (yes, it’s a genre)

Sleeping Beauties, by Stephen King and son, Owen. No introduction required.

Just finished Fear an hour ago - another 5-star read! Looking forward to the next (and last) book in the series.

It's a well-written series with some weird and horrific elements to it. Each book rightly carries a warning about scenes of cruelty and violence which some readers might find hard to stomach, but the world-building and characters are what makes these books so good IMO. I hope you enjoy them if you get around to reading them. By the way, I saw recently that the first book is available in audio format on Youtube.

Oh really? I'm always on YouTube. I'll probably try it, especially if the writing is good. Sometimes I go into these YA books and the character/writing is more on the juvenile side.
I’m trying to catch up with Stephen King’s never slowing output. I’ve just finished reading The Outsider. Review below. Now on to Elevation. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
had a little binge over the last week or two and slowly chipping away at my never ending 'to read' list.
A very gory, very bloody re-telling. Had a few flaws but overall solid 3/5
Super slow, felt like nothing happened for more than half of the book, struggled! 2/5
Cool little sci-fi with an interesting premise, didn't really kick it up that extra notch to make it 4 stars but another solid 3!

LOVED Beyond the Door!

Loved that one as well, you should check out the HBO show, saw you mentioned it in your review, saw two episodes so far and it's terrific. It also has Talos in it hehe, whom we adore ( Ben Mendelsohn) .

I finished my re-read of
by Peter Straub. I'm happy to say it mostly lived up to my memory of it. Other than a bit of a bog-down in the middle, it is an incredible story.
Recently finished reading Accursed by Guy N. Smith
You can read my 5 star review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Roo by Alan Baxter 5/5
Bloody essential. The greatest thing I'll read this year or any year.

In terms of horror, so far, I've read: The Twisted Ones 4/5
The Valancourt Book of Victorian Christmas Ghost Stories 4/5
You can find my full reviews here.
Devil’s Road. Crazy hilarious SF racing book with kaiju. Seriously. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Recently finished The Nameless by Ramsey Campbell
I wanted to like this one but something just wasn't right, you can read my thoughts on the book here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished reading Light a couple of days and, thus, the Gone series. Sad to see some major characters not survive to the end but a good, 5-star, read for me.
One of my favorite reads for the year so far, Voices in the Snow by Darcy Coates

This looks really good! Adding it....
These Broken StarsI really do enjoy her writing and love the Illuminae series but this one didn't really cut it for me. Too much romance and not much else.
Char wrote: "I finished up the last of the Joe Ledger series, Deep Silence. What a ride it was!"Awesome, that's one of the series I'm going to work through this year.
Nothing speculative this time but a bit of romance - After School Activities by Dirk Hunter. Not entirely believable but a fun read.
Everyone has probably read Annihilation already, but I was unaware of that trilogy before the movie. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
