The Maze Runner

Should I Read The Maze Runner??

It does! I'm sold on reading The Maze Runner.

Thanks for your opinion! You really gave me a clear picture on what I'm going into to. :)

FOR NOEL: Just read it

He's probably in the beginning where they find certain "stuff" hanging from the ceiling.

Look, Maze Runner is a fine book. But stop at that one. The first book ends fine, you don't need the next two. Those two (The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure) are junk. While reading them, I became progressively more confused and disinterested. By the time I finished the last one, I couldn't even force myself to read the prequel, Fever Code.
So:
Single book ==good
Series ==bad

Series are the Best.
Without The Scorch Trial, the Maze Runner sucks, How can they escape the maze and then the book stops, that's just silly of james Dashner.
Come on The Maze Runner is not complete without The Scorch..

Why would you want me to bail out, my friends who read the Scorch says its the best book, Even Niya says she wants to reread it.
Noal wants to Read the maze Runner, maybe when she finishes she would like to read The Scorch.
So if you know what's good for you leave this discussion before i start saying what i am not supposed to say.

I'm a guy, by the way. Don't let the Latin fool you into thinking I'm female.
(If you have something you just can't discuss here, you can take it to me in a private message instead.)

But @Sic Transit (???) you're not really supposed to get any answers while reading Scorch Trials, because its another test: phase 2. The only answers you get is what the Gladers are supposed to get. That's why it's so good: because you just keep on guessing. And the prequel, The Fever Code isn't out until 2016. The Kill Order though is out and you do get some answers in that.

When I say you don't get answers, I mean you don't get answers. Ever. Not even in book three. It's never explained to you. You have to guess what Dashner's intent was, and with so many clues, it's actually really hard to figure out what the author was implying. My best guess is that Dashner never did have a plan; he simply wrote what he thought would be most dramatic.
I have read the first few chapters of The Kill Order, and there are some answers (one, actually), but by the time I reached that book, I was so sick of reading James Dashner's works that I simply shut the book and quit. I won't be reading The Kill Order because I simply don't believe that the author has any intentions of answering all the questions and bringing the series to a complete end.

Buuuuut...Let's be realistic. I'd settle for learning more about this "Chancellor Amy Paige" person, who is only mentioned a few times in the entire series, but is apparently very important. I'd like to know why the government thought up that horrible idea in the first place (no, not the Trials, though that's pretty messed up too. I'm talking about the other, BIGGER screw up. You know what I'm talking about.) I want to know why there's no one actually doing smart things about this Flare.
Heh, in another thread, some other people and I came to the conclusion that the entire book series is built upon some very flawed science and reasoning. You're not likely to convince me that these books are all fine and dandy.

And yeah, it's been a few months since I read those books, so I'm not surprised I got that name wrong.

Maybe if you say I should not read The Scorch trial, I may quit.
Just spit it out MR Glory, or whatever you call yourself.
Come On, I am waiting

Please understand,if asked by a friend, I would actually recommend "The Maze Runner", just not the entire trilogy.
By the way, Emma, I love your reference to the book.

Okay, I will, But did you get what he said, He said I should bail out, he wants to make me quit the scorch trials.
Mr. Glory, you are just a Newbie around so stop telling me what to do, Its a warning... Be wise to take it.

I know what you trying to do, trying to make everybody like you but you can't make me.

Even when the Maze is opening it shows in the sticker, So the book is way better than the Movie.
HungerGames19: it's Definately worth reading.
Emmanuel: You can say that again.

I don't get you Haystack, explain more.

I was just trying to say that when a movie comes out, and it's based on a book, I'd like to read the book and then see the movie, but most of the time I end up seeing the movie first and then reading the book. I was also trying to say that I had seen the film version of The Maze Runner, and I didn't like it. So, like the person who originally created this thread, I wanted someone to convince me to read the book.

If you want a good YA dystopian there are lots, Idlewild by Nick Sagan is great (if a little harder to find) or Incarceron by Catherine Fisher, Mister Monday by Garth Nix, or even Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. You might even try the grown up ones like Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut or Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.
TMR just isn't a good book, save yourself the angst of going for god sake Thomas do sometihng other than pass out/fall asleep (it is better than the sequels though)

I honestly prefer the book to the movie. The movie changed the plot, was kind of rushed, had decent acting, and was generally kind of different from the book. The maze escape was completely different from the book. And the book has more character development. I'd say go for it, and see if you like it, because 90% of my friends who've read the book and see the movie didn't like the movie, but loved the book.
