I don't get the point of the "reunion with her mother". It didn't really add anything other than (view spoiler)[ telling us that Gus was her bio dad. Something everyone else figured out even Cam but she was too stupid., Plus Gus never told her either for reasons unbeknownst to me.

No it just extended the "who will she choose" thing but (view spoiler)[ she didn't need to add the thing about her parents as it was assumed that they were dead anyway, so yes it was a shock about the Travis/Gus thing, but not really necessary as it didn't really add anything to the story! Javier stayed a POS till the bitter end but I didn't get his fascination with Cam? Sophie was a weak hostage but Ellie would of never known where to look for Cam if it wasn't for her. I'm glad she bit the bullet, pun intended lol, she was a bitch to Cam and a horrible mother. I was shocked that Gus was her father...didn't see that coming. My biggest complaint was that the ending was rushed. It's a habit though of KH's finales. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't not like it, but like you said it felt rushed at the end (view spoiler)[ all of a sudden she had no feelings for Javier and he was the bad guy through and through (which we knew already) but there was always a chance in the other books that she may have chosen him, I liked that about it as Ellie was a law unto herself and you didn't know where she was going to end up. In this one you knew from the beginning. (hide spoiler)]

I'm currently reading the 1st in the Experiment in Terror series, that's good so far, just met Dex after the "incident" !

All this and there wasn't a real reunion with her mom. (view spoiler)[ I didn't get a true sense of closure, that is understanding her mother's choices. Why the hell was she truly with that monster? Why did she not try to take care of Ellie? I would have felt better if Ellie's mom was a crack head and I could blame the drugs for the neglect.

This wasn't a real love triangle. Javier was perhaps the most consistent person in the book. He was what he had always been. So for Ellie to keep buying his crap, when she is a con artist, confounded me. Then she slept with him---URGH!

Why did her bio-dad watch her all this time and not tell her, let her know SOMEONE in this world cared for her other than her uncle? Ellie thought her uncle cared for her, so the betrayal hurt that much mroe. Gus could have stepped in early and helped her, instead he played a role from afar. He got her fake ids etc. That's BS!

I think Gus kept quiet out of a sense of loyalty to her parents. Her dad (the one that raised her) knew Ellie wasn't his and still raised her like she was until the Travis incident.

Javier was consistent. It really pissed me off he lied about Travis having Gus. I wasn't surprised at all when he left them in the jungle.

I'm glad Cam went back for Ben too. Sophia was a horrible person and a horrible mother. (hide spoiler)]
