I'm liking this series a lot, but I think with his dad entering the picture there could have been more drama. I like drama lol

Mary Beth | 974 comments Reading a scary book to start out October. On the back of the book blurb it says Warning: Do Not Read This Book IF You Are Alone. But if you do keep repeating to yourself, its only a book, Its only a book.

The book is called Harvest Home by Thomas Tryon

Anita (anitanodiva) | 4080 comments Harvest Home by Thomas Tryon by Thomas Tryon is one of the best horror novels ever written, and the only one I've ever read. Truly chilling and so memorable that I can recite the plot 40 years later.

The book blurb hype - Yes, it does live up to it.

I am not far into it but three people recommended this book to me and said that its one of the scariest books they read. I dont scare easily but we will see. I also have read a lot of scary books so we will see soon. I will let me know what I think.

Anita did you like it?

message 4717: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 4080 comments After 40 years I still remember the plot - so yes I "liked" it. I have not read another book like it since. Horror is not at all a genre I read. If you like your horror with a normal face, this is the book for you.

I actually read the book because I had a crush on Tom Tryon, the author. Loved his film work.

message 4718: by Mary Beth (new)

Mary Beth | 974 comments Lol! Horror isnt my genre either. If the book is horror it has to be a mystery or thriller with it, so I think I will enjoy it. It does have a slow start but read other reviews that said the suspense starts about halfway through the book.

Finished Scream for Me (Romantic Suspense, #8; Daniel Vartanian, #2) by Karen Rose - maybe I just wasn't in th emood but this book was really not up to Rose's standards. It was far too long with repetitious descriptions of events, rehashing of character angst and the attraction between the H/h has no foundation. One good point was the fact my guess of who the villain was, was wrong :0)

I totally agree with you about the h/h. I thought it bizarre that she was involved in the entire investigation, and them being involved wasn't considered a conflict of interest.

It was a huge conflict of interest and all it got was a shake of the head and a smug grin from Daniel's boss. What was that?!
