Just finished reading A Cold Dark Place (Cold Justice, #1) by Toni Anderson and enjoyed it very much. It is different from the usual RS with a morally ambiguous hero and a rather naive yet also intelligent and resourceful heroine.

Looking forward to continuing with the series.

Yes, I love Toni Anderson books. I love that ambiguity. It shows up in different ways in her books.

I'm reading Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1) by Kit Rocha to try and catch up on my challenge readings. Just started, but I'm already really liking it.

A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray

My Review

I also listened to A New Hope (Book 8) by Robyn Carr. I enjoyed reading Ginger's story and the set up for the next book. As always I LOVED Therese Plummer narration. (Review to come). I am now listening to the next book in the series Wildest Dreams.

A New Hope (Thunder Point, #8) by Robyn Carr Wildest Dreams (Thunder Point, #9) by Robyn Carr

I started Where It Hurts (Book 1) by Reed Farrel Coleman last night and finished it this afternoon! I really liked the main character, Gus Murphy. He is like a mix of Bosch, Bolitar and Reacher. There are great secondary characters! Review to come.

Robin (robinmy) | 3516 comments For the last week I've been listening to Fragile (Jones Cooper, #1) by Lisa Unger Fragile by Lisa Unger on my commute to work. I'm not sure I like it. I thought it was a suspense story, but I think I'm mistaken. So far it feels like women's fiction. There are a whole bunch of characters, but not much is going on.

I'm currently reading To Marry an Heiress (Daughters of Fortune, #2) by Lorraine Heath To Marry an Heiress by Lorraine Heath. Great book so far.

This series stands alone extremely well, at least so far. The only reason I'd recommend reading the Barefoot Bay series first is so you'd get the history of how the resort came to be. You'd get that from the first book in that series. Otherwise, you'd be fine starting with this one.

There's more of a connection to her Guardians Angelino series. Gabe Rossi comes from that series. With that said, I haven't read that series and it's not making a difference.

Veronica, Have you read Heath's Rogues in Texas series? There are many characters from it that appear in the first book of the Daughters of Fortune series. Don't know if it bothers you, but I hate reading out of order and think reading the "Rogues" series first enhances the "Daughters" series.
