Thank you for this recommendation! I recently finished this and really loved it.

Thegirlintheafternoon | 61 comments I'm reading C.L. Polk's Witchmark right now, and it fits this prompt! A good pick if you like fantasy and historical fiction.

Lindsay | 1 comments I read One of Us Is Lying based on a recommendation from this thread and it was excellent. I enjoyed the audiobook version, which has 4 narrators to go along with the 4 points of view.

I haven't read it, but its not a mystery so it does not work.

Oops! Looks like I misread the back of the book. Thank you!

Thanks! I’m doing this for a few other prompts, so it would fit nicely.

I just finished this - I loved it!! Good for animal lovers, quirky characters, and fabulous older protagonists. I wonder how Flights is? I would really like to read more of her books.

Whitney | 2 comments I read Hurricane Season by Fernando Melchor. The writing is beautiful but the story is brutal, gritty, and unapologetic. It was hard to get through some of the pages. Read with caution. You have been forewarned.Hurricane Season

message 117: by Robin (new)

Robin K | 1 comments Attn: Murder in an Irish Village by O’Connor has a female victim.

message 118: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthag503) The Distant Dead This book would also work for a rural setting.

Karen Armo The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Couldn’t put this one down!

message 122: by Roos (new)

Roos The Wife and the Widow by Christian White counts for this challenge. I thought it was great I read it in an evening.

Elizabeth (elizabethlk) | 365 comments Any chance someone could tell me, without spoilers, if A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee would count for this task?

I don't read a lot of mysteries, but it's an area I'm trying to read more in. I'm having a hard time deciding what to read for this task specifically though since it can be hard to know without reading lengthier descriptions that might be full of spoilers which is something I pretty specifically do not want when reading a mystery?

I have an idea of what to read for this task instead of this does have a victim who is a woman based on what others have recommended that I have access to, it would just be awesome if I could use this one since it's been on my TBR for forever.
