SOLVED. YA book about a group in girl's school trying to escape. [s]

When I read this book, I was in 6th grade and I'm in 11th grade now, so I think I read this book in 2014 or 2015. I don't remember whether it was supposed to take place in the future, but the setting was somewhat dystopian.
This group of girls was sent off by their families to go into a girl's school. They drove there by bus and on the ride, someone took up all of their electronics and things. (I think one girl attempted to sneak a phone or something past.)
One girl, who was in a "sporty/athletic" clique that sort of rivaled the protagonist at the school, had talked about how she was in a coma. I can't remember if she had been lying or telling the truth.
One of the things the girls were taught was survival skills in the woods. There was a neighboring school for boys, but they were not supposed to talk to the male students there.
Near the end of the book, they were supposed to complete this project where they had to survive in the woods for a few days. By the end of the book, I think the girl who had gotten in a coma, the protagonist, and others had teamed up to escape the school.
I know it was a series, with the next book being from the POV of the girl in the coma. Other than that, I don't think I remember anything else.
