Melanie | 1911 comments I read this book earlier in the year, so I got the audio version for a re-read with the group.

Angie (pinkindle) | 828 comments Picked it up from the library today! I'll get to it later this week. :)

Angie (pinkindle) | 828 comments Just finished the first part. I didn't quite know what to expect since I've never read this author before, but I guess I was expecting something dark and gut punching. This was more of a straightforward explanation of her life. Which was interesting, but that was it. But looking at some reviews, that seems to be the general consensus for this first section, so I'm eager to read the rest.

Melanie | 1911 comments I'm nearly to the end of part I. It is really long compared to the other sections. It is hard to comment on a lot if it. It is very relate-able and often too real, yet strangely well written.

I guess I'll comment on her time as an exchange student. Sometimes to change the trajectory of you life, you need to physically relocate because it is the only way to truly get a new beginning. And despite all of her family flaws, it is obvious the DO love her. I can relate there too. As an educator I need to keep in mind the teachers who sought her out, even as she was heading in a wrong direction. Students may need the personal invite to join, and joining may change their lives.
