But what does 'merge claimed profiles' mean? #13 is two listings of the same book

The best way to combine those books is to merge the "generic" author profile into the "claimed" (Goodreads Author) one. We do not want to change the author field in the book record to one that is not formatted correctly (no period after the C).
So we refer those to staff to merge/combine.

That may not be a clear explanation... but basically it is referred to staff because librarians can't do it the way we normally would. :-)
